Dress in Style

I’m working on a couple of projects using the Dress Form Framlits (imagine that?) and want to show you something else that’s fun to do with them!  Aren’t these cute?  Kimberly Van Deipen has a video on how to do the skirt.  When I did these, I only had the little teeny tiny spools – and I think the larger ones work better.  These were so small I had to anchor them with washers.

This is a great time of year to find tulle.  With wedding season coming up – it’s everywhere.  Just think of all the things you can use to decorate these!  Pull out all that stuff you’re hoarding keeping for something special!  I’ll show you more when I get these projects finished – but you go right ahead and try this now!  Hugs, Fran

Sweet Magnet Board

It’s sorority time!  My youngest is now in a sorority and I made her a magnet for her dorm room.  Using the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and A Fitting Occasion stamp set, a cute owl die and the Pennant Parade die – here’s her magnet board.

I used the Pennant Parade die and the Timeless Type Alphabet to make the banner.  Remember those keys from a few “mini’s” ago?  Just what I needed for this.

Soda Pop Top magnets!  I bought galvanized steel for the backing under the DSP and cut it fit.  (Be careful, it’s sharp!)

And the cute little owl (Sizzix Owl #2) was the perfect finishing touch.  That’s it – Owl, Key and Fleur de Lis.  Got it covered.  Hugs, Fran

Dress Up Banner

Here’s my display of some of the outfits I’ve used on my Pop N Cuts Cards – isn’t it fun?  At the moment it’s in my office but I think it will hang in the classroom.  I got so involved in putting it together that I didn’t take into account how long it would end up being – so I think I’ll do a shorter one for my office.  Too much fun!  Hugs, Fran

Cinderella

For this card I made a belly band and stamped the front with Feels Good from the Spring Mini,  There was another sentiment that would work for this card – “She believed she could..so she did.”  Because when you open it you see this –

It’s Cinderella in all her glory!

The magic “swirl” around her dress is – you guessed it – fishing line covered in Dazzling Details and little tiny glitter stars.

The birds and banner are from Decorate a Daisy (purchased just for this card!) and the “Just for You” sentiment was done in My Digital Studio 2.

I drew the slippers on vellum card stock and covered them with Dazzling Details.  Glass slippers are very difficult to papercraft!

The mirror really only shows from the side – but the girl has to take a look at her new gown!

Pop N Up to Garden

I wanted to try making an invisible shelf for my Dress Form Pop N Cuts using a window sheet.  It’s a really cool look – or not look as the case may be!  Once I die cut the insert, I trimmed it down, leaving just enough to make the Pop Up work.

Her overalls were made by cutting the scallop off the bottom of the dress and snipping a small triangle in the center bottom.  You can only snip a small amount or you’ll have the form showing.  Then I added some stitching with my Stampin Write Marker, and few squares for pockets – and teeny tiny piece of Delicate Lace Tape in the pocket.  The straps on the overalls are drawn and mini brads were used to look like snaps. The tree is a very old Sizzix die.  The shovel is an oval punch.

The basket is from A Little Bit of Spring in the Spring Mini catalog.

Tuxedo Pop N Cut

My Pop N Cuts are hitting the town tonight!  Maybe it’s a black-tie charity event, a special anniversary or even prom – but it’s somewhere fancy!

Both dress forms fit across the shelf for the single dress form (did that make sense?)  I just left the middle leg on there so provide support.  It’s covered by the handsome couple.  You can find Mr. Pop N Cuts tuxedo here. Karen Burniston – who created this die – created this tuxedo pattern just for the dress form.

Flower Trim Headband

Yesterday was Samantha’s birthday (!) so we went down to Centre College for a birthday visit.  While we were in her dorm room I spotted something I haven’t shared with you yet – the headband I made her using the new Flower Trim in the Spring Mini.  (page 5, 126869)

So here’s how you make this.  Grab your glue gun and your Flower Trim and hot glue it on to a headband.  That’s it!  Nothing to it!  I showed this to my friends at stamp club last night and the ideas started rolling.  We were coloring the flower trim with stamp pads and shimmer spray – you could have one to match every outfit!

Have fun with headbands!  Hugs, Fran

Very Happy Heart

Need more Valentine ideas?  This cello topper started as a 3 x 3 piece of Pretty in Pink.  Score it at 1 1/2 and use the heart  design in the Adorning Accents Folders pack to emboss some hearts.  Then add a heart (Happy Heart – single) and add some glimmer paper.  But the cutest part is the little  pieces on the ends of the kisses.  Barb Mulikin came up with this idea to make little “conversation circles” in My Digital Studio and put them on kisses – cute idea!

Supplies
Stamp Set – Happy Heart (Single stamp Holiday 2012)
card stock – Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer paper
Ink – Real Red
Etc – Full heart punch, Owl punch, Adorning Accent Folder, cello bag

A little treat for someone sweet!  Hugs, Fran
