All About Love – Design Team Challenge

Today is the Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge – Valentines.

Lots of popping up love going on in my craft room! I’ve been working on Slider Boxes with Surprise Cubes for Valentine’s Day. The cute Slider Box is one of may current favorites! I used lots of different word sets to decorate the outsides – along with the Love Charms and few other sentiments from my stash.

There are so many ways to decorate the Surprise Cubes!

Make sure to check out the other designer’s creations! Karen will post on Wednesday. Hugs, Fran

A Barrel of Love

What’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys? Monkeys in love! To make this card, I started with the new Karen Burniston Monkey and Lion die set. The base is the Long Rectangle – Crosshatch die.

The barrel was made with the post from the new Mailbox die. I stacked them together and die cut that using the Crosshatch Oval die.

Inside I used the Katherine Label die to hang a monkey from a heart. The stamped heart and sentiments are from Simon Says Stamp’s Love Greetings Mix. Hugs, Fran

Mod Valentine’s Challenge

Our Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge this month is to make a Valentines or Love-themed card WITHOUT using red or pink as the primary colors.

I chose blue and gold. The front of this card was inspire by Yana Smakula. I used the moon from the Simon Says Stamp’s Sun and Moon Mandala, gold heat embossed onto a Crosshatch Circle. The stars were done in gold embossing paste. This card is a 5 x 7. “Love” is from the Sending Love die. I also added some little gold star confetti.

Inside I repeated the front design and added the Rocket die! Instead of making the base of the rocket the moon, I covered it with stars and let it be part of the sky. The rocket is done in foil. I also added the Happy Valentine’s Day die on Crosshatch Rectangle dies.

Make sure to check out the other designer’s takes on this fun theme. Karen’s will post on Wednesday. Hugs, Fran

Snowman Love

I’m still using the Karen Burniston Heart Pivot and Snowman dies along with Nature Edges. I had some inked backgrounds and decided to make a different version of the last card I showed you. I also used the Simon Says Stamp Snowflake Frame,] and Bold Hello.

Inside I continued with the Heart Pivot and Snowman dies. The sequins decorating the snowflakes are Honey Bee’s Seas the Day.

These snowmen just make me happy!

Here’s another version done with pink alcohol background.

The pink was – a lot! So I turned it into a Valentine card. The Love and sentiment is from Hero Arts and the sequins are Honey Bee’s Bubble Gum.

Hope this gives you more ideas on using the Heart Pivot. Hugs, Fran

Happy Hearts

I love the Tag Book die! For this card I used it to make a Valentine.

I used the Karen Burniston Love die on a Honey Bee Stamps Heart and Scallop Heart die.

Inside I used the KB Heart Pivot die! Super fun!

It’s fun and uses some different Valentine colors. Hope you enjoy! Hugs, Fran

You’re Sweet

Here’s a fun Valentine using the Karen Burniston Photo Collage and Love Charms dies. I started with the Honey Bee Hearts and Scallop Hearts and used the KB You’re Sweet die to decorate the front. The scallop on the side is made using the KB Tropical Scene die. The little heart with an arrow is from the Love Charms die.

I die cut all the Love Charms 4 times – from white, red, pink and blue green cardstock – and put them all together. Then all I needed to do was put them together in their photo pieces.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Word Mix 2. It creates a lot of Valentines phrases which I just keep on my desk in a bowl. Have fun creating! Hugs, Fran

Love You by the Sea

Here’s a fun Valentine from the beach! This is a 5 x 5 card featuring the fun Karen Burniston Sea Animals and Ocean Animals. I started with a background using 2 Lawn Fawn XOXO Backdrops: Landscape. The scene was built on a 4 1/2 inch circle using the Karen Burniston Tropical Scene die. Those sweet urchins are holding die cuts from Love Charms.

The crabs were die cut from red yardstick and highlighted with Copic markers and the shark was die cut from white and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s Love Poems.

Inside I used the KB Katherine Label die and popped Happy Valentines Day and another shark up. The circle at the bottom is die cut with the Crosshatch Circle.

The heart shaped splashes around the shark are coated with Glossy Accents.

Might be a fun idea to send to or from the beach! Hugs, Fran

Valentine Hearts

Happy Valentine’s Day! This card is a 5 x 5 and the front is done with every little heart stamp I could dig out of my stash and the Gina K Wreath builder template. I used the so so pretty All My Love DSP.

The inside features the beautiful Karen Burniston Heart Pivot die with a pattern on pattern design.

Here’s a close up to show you the details. These hearts are so pretty! Hugs, Fran

Love You Pivot

Here’s a special Valentine’s card for a special someone. This is a 5 x 5 card that has glitter embossing paste in hearts on the left side and stripes on the right side. I added some Petal Pink re-inker to the hearts to make it more tone on tone.

The heart is dry embossed with the Abstract Impressions die and then die cut with a Meant To Be heart. The Love You is from Karen Burniston’s Love Word set. The scallop on the side is die cut with the die from Colorful Seasons.

Inside is the Karen Burniston Heart Pivot die. Note – these colors were so hard to photograph! Most of the details from the front are repeated on the inside.

Here’s a close up of the Heart Pivot. (You can click on the pictures to make them larger)

Such a pretty die! Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros February Challenge – Love

This month’s Paper Pro challenge is Love.  I used the new Karen Burniston Spinner Square Pop Up die to make a Valentine card.  The front uses the Painted Love DSP and Gold foil papers along with Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango card stocks.  The little heart is Powder Pink, painted with a shimmer pen and cover with Glossy Accents.  The row of gold hearts are die cut with Karen Burniston’s Cake Trim die.  It’s all finished off with a Powder Pink ribbon.

The dies on the Spinner Square can cut an opening on the front.  As you open the card, the message pops out!

Since I turned mine vertically, the message pops out from the bottom.  The sentiment is from Sure do Love You.    Hugs, Fran
