Witchy Gnome Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge

It’s time for a Halloween Design Team Challenge! I used the Bitty Ball and the Mini Ball Add ons Gnomes to create a spooky fun card.

On the outside I used the Simon Says Stamp Halloween Gnomes stamp set and an inked and splattered background.

I have the Gnome Witch popped up on a mini action wobbler!

Inside I created the witchy gnome! So fun!

I used the Autumn Elements, Skeleton and Bats, and Happy Halloween dies to decorate the inside.

I also did an inky background for the inside.

Enjoy the card and don’t forget to check out all the other designers. Karen will post tomorrow. Hugs, Fran

May Designer Challenge – Karen Burniston Design Team

The Design Team challenge this month is to create a Pop Up Ball and a “small” (matching character)! It also coincides with Karen’s newest release – big win! I started with the Holiday House, the Tree Pop Up, a Princess (from the Princess and Mermaid set) and Welcome. I also used the Long Natures Edges to die cut the grass. The closure features a new die – Long Flap Closure!

And inside are the three bears – Papa Surprise Ball bear. Mama Bitty Ball bear. An introducing Baby Mini Ball bear!

Here’s Papa bear with his coffee and newspaper.

Mama has been baking treats.

And baby bear has his toy bear.

Their house is decorated with flowers and bees from the same set.

They’ve even framed some of their favorite friends.

Enjoy all the fun going on this week! Karen’s post will go up tomorrow. Hugs, Fran

Sleigh Full of Fun

Today is the Karen Burniston Design Team December challenge – Mod Holidays! The challenge is to use non- traditional colors!

First I want to say that my camera hated this challenge! This sleigh (from the Sleigh Pop Up) is actually purple. Sheesh! It’s filled with presents from the Big Birthday Charms set, but keep in mind that there are also packages in the sleigh set. I also used the Cheers word set and just trimmed off the “s.”

I added some gems to the wreath and sparkle pen to the bows. The background is stenciled with stencil paste and glitter.

And inside is the cute little elf helping to load the sleigh! He is made with the Bitty Ball and Character Add Ons 2 dies. His hat uses the Border Blends – Trims die for the trim.

To make his striped outfit, I simply cut strips of paper, adhered them to copy paper and then die cut them out.

Thanks for checking out my mod colors! Make sure to check out all the great designs my the entire team. Karen will post on Wednesday. Hugs, Fran

Home for Halloween

The Karen Burniston Design Team is getting spooky today with a Halloween card challenge!

My card is a 5 x 7 and starts with the Castle Pop Up used as a background. The clouds are stenciled in Seedless Preserves, Crackling Campfire and Mustard Seed and the moon is die cut using the Crosshatch Circle. The smaller bats are from the Haunted Tiny House Add On and the larger are from Halloween Scene. The grass is from Long Nature Edges. I dotted the sky with a glaze pen.

Inside features the Vampire (Character Add On 1) and more bats! My vampire has bats floating above him on an acetate strip. Happy Halloween was die cut and inked.

I like having the Flap and Closure flap go from the front to the back – leaving the entire front open to decorate. On the inside I stenciled the clouds with white ink on to black card stock and added another “moon.”

Isn’t he handsome? Make sure to check out all the design team creations! It’s spooky fun! Karen’s card will be available tomorrow. Hugs, Fran

Sunny or Snow Design Team Challenge

The Karen Burniston theme this month is Sunny or Snowy. I chose…….

snowy! Using the Snowflake Pattern Plate, Iron Fence, Street lantern, Long Nature Edges, and Merry Christmas I created a 6 x 6 card based on snow. The Pattern Plate is dry embossed for my background.

Inside I have Santa decking the halls. “Deck” is made with the Alphabet die.

The lanterns are made from strips of card stock attached to printer paper and then die cut.

Santa is made with the Exact Pack 6 card stock. I love this card stock :). Make sure to check out the other designers sunny or snowy cards! Hugs, Fran

A Haunting Friday the 13th

It’s Friday the 13th so I definitely need to share a Halloween card! This card measure 5 x 7 and opens with the Flap and Closure die on the right. The front is decorated with the Castle die and some bats, ghosts and sentiment from Halloween Charms.

Inside is the vampire from Character Add-ons 1 and some more Halloween Charms! He’s such a cute vampire! I also used the Crosshatch Circle die to make an area to write your greeting.

Some spiders decorate the sides.

Here’s a close up of his smiling face. Be careful out there today!! Hugs, Fran

Spring Chicken Class Cards

Aren’t these cute? The one on the left is from a class that Karen Burniston did this weekend. She is offering a special from March 14-18th for the Just Chicken In card . By using the code CLASS you can get 15% off of all the dies used in the original card (the ones listed in the handout) PLUS the Flap and Closure. She is also offering Free US shipping for orders over $15 during those same four days, no code required. You can download the handout and watch the prep video. https://karenburniston.com/kit-instructions/. So now you have all the particulars – let me show you my cards.

Here are the chicks! They are darling and the construction is super easy with the Bitty Ball, Spring Animal and Crosshatch Circle dies.

The sentiment is done with the Alphabet and Spring Animal dies.

I decided to expand on the idea with a bunny – using Animal Add On 3.

I used the same instructions from the Chicken class to make this card.

And his little tail using the small flower from Flower and Bee.

Fun class – hop over and take a look :). Hugs, Fran

Inspired By

This month’s Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge is Inspired By – and I was inspired by Kelly Booth!

This was card that inspired me – made by Kelly!

https://cruzinkellster.blogspot.com/2020/09/september-karen-burniston-designer.html

And here’s my card.

I started with a 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 card base that has a magnetic flap that holds the card closed. The sentiment is Happy Birthday from Karen Burniston.

Inside is the cute, cute elephant holding a heart. I loved Kelly’s teal elephant, but I needed a very masculine card, so I went with gray.

Hope you enjoyed this! Make sure to check out all the designer cards this month, and Karen’s will be up on Wednesday! Hugs, Fran

September Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge – In The Wild!

This month the Design Challenge is to make an animal card using the Surprise Ball and the Bitty Ball! Here’s what I made.

I started with a large base card – this is 5 1/2 x 7. The background is a Lawn Fawn Brick Stencil with dye inks and some Distressed Oxides to make the green around it. I used a Crosshatch Circle with the Celebrate die and the Alphabet dies to create the sentiment. The flowers are from the Backyard Charms.

I used magnets on the inside to hold this card closed, and it closes really flat!

When you open the card, the hippos are kissing!

You can run them to the front and read the message I created on my computer.

The bottom halves are the Surprise Balls and the tops are the Bitty Balls. I also used the Animal Add On 2 to create the hippos.

Hope you enjoy the card! Make sure to check out the other team members designs. Karen’s post will be on Wednesday! Hugs, Fran
