Beachy Thoughts Challenge Day 2

Setting Sail 02

Today is the second day of Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge and I’m showing you my “cute” card – Rocky on the beach!  He’s having a great time while I’m sitting in the snow 🙂  This is a 3 x 6 card using the EDC die Tags and More 3 as the base.  The stamp set is a SU Photopolymer set called Setting’ Sail.

On the inside I added the Pop It Ups mechanism from the Rectangular Pull card so that Rocky pops out into the water when you open it.  The little trees in the background are the Beach Edges dies.  The colors used are Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight.  I hope you are enjoying the teams artsy and cute cards!  Hugs, Fran

World of Dreams Artsy Challenge

World of Dreams 02

The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge this month is to do an “artsy” card and a “cute” card.  This is my artsy card, using World of Dreams stamp set and Typeset Designer Series paper and the Double High technique.  Since this paper is very light (book page) I decided to paint it with acrylic paint to add some heft, and then splattered it with black ink.  I embossed the image on the front with black embossing powder, added some Crumb Cake seam binding, washi tape, some punches from the Bird Builder punch and a button.

On the inside I used a Happy Birthday sticker and the ECD die Berry Branch.  Fun to make – and hard to quit adding things to it!  I hope you’ll check out all the projects on Karen’s Facebook page.  Hugs, Fran

To a Classic

Guy Greetings 03

The challenge for Karen Burniston’s design team continues today to use 3 or more Pop It Ups die to create a card.  For this card I used the Star accordion die, Star Edge, and Circle Accordion die.  The stamp set is Guy Greetings from the Occasions Mini.

To get the “Grandfather” in the center of the card, I masked off the “pa” part of Grandpa and stamped it with “Father.”  Since I was using Photopolymer stamps – it was easy.  The Star and Circle Accordion dies go together nicely (no fiddling around – the just work together!)  This was fun to make!  Hugs, Fran

Winter Blessings

Spiral Pull Card 02

Today starts the January Challenges for the Karen Burniston Design Team!  This month’s challenge was to create a card using 3 or more Pop It Ups dies.  For my first card I used the Spiral Circle Pull Card  – with the Paris Edges and an EDC Snowflake die.

On the inside I used some more snowflakes from All Seasons Tree.  The sentiment is Stamping Up’s Blessed By God and the the little girl on the front is Winter Fairy by Sylvia Zet colored with Copics.  I love challenges like this!  Hugs, Fran

Bombs Away Birthday

Bombs Away Birthday 01

Happy New Year everyone!  Today’s card uses the Photopolymer stamp Bombs Away Birthday This set can only be found under the Photopolymer link on the web site – but it’s worth the search!  It’s hard to tell in the photo but the fringe on the side is cut from Silver foil paper and really shines!

The base is Whisper White with Silver dot Vellum over the top.  Then I added some In Color sequins.  The ribbon was the White Satin ribbon – colored with the lightest Coastal Cabana Blendabilities marker.  To make the record, I punched a 2 1/2″ circle and then traced several Circle Framelits to make the “grooves.”

Can you see them?  This card completes a Creative Crew challenge on Splitcoast to use the fringe scissors 🙂  You can play along too by adding the keyword CCREW0115CF, CreativeCrew, SUO.  Hugs, Fran

Stuffed Turkey

Mingle All the Way 04

My second card for Karen Burniston’s Design Team challenge is for Thanksgiving.  I used her Circle Accordion die and lots of punches to create a turkey!  My turkey is punched from Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso and Crushed Curry. The Designer Series paper is SU’s Color Me Autumn.  I went around the circle with the KB Rings Frame Edges 1 and lots of Cajun Craze Candy Dots.  The leaves are punched from the SU Bird punch and finished off with an Early Espresso button and twine.

Inside shows off a greeting from Mingle All the Way (Holiday Mini).  I hope you’ll jump over to Karen’s Facebook page to see an “entire year” of ideas from all the designers!

National Bathtub Day

Amazing Birthday 03

Just in case you’re celebrating National Bathtub Day tomorrow, I thought I’d share a card!  The challenge is to make a card for “another” holiday in December – and I chose this one.  Using the Bokeh technique, I created a bubbly background with Island Indigo, Marina Mist and Pool Party inks.  The sentiment is from Amazing Birthday.  To make the bubbles on the tag, I used my Stampin Mist and Dazzling Details bottles as stamps.  Then, since it was out, I added Dazzling Details to some of the bubbles.

The inside sentiment was created in My Digital Studio.  To play along with the Creative Crew, upload your own “holiday” card using the keyword CCREW1214HF CreativeCrew SUO.  To see all the projects for this month, head over to the Splicoast Creative Crew Gallery.  Hugs, Fran

Christmas Through the Window

Ornamental Pine 05 05 front

Another challenge card for the December Creative Crew on Splitcoast!  This challenge was to create a window on your card.  I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits – perfect!  The card size is a 5 x 5 and has Ornamental Pines stamped behind it.

Ornamental Pine 05 side

The candle on the front was hand cut and the flame is from the Bird punch.  I “dripped” Dazzling Diamonds down the side of the candle.

The garland under the candle is made with he branch in the Bird punch – just like the flame.  Tie a bow with the Cherry Cobbler seam binding and you have a pretty window card. Play along by using the keyword CCREW1214CF, CreativeCrew, SUO.  Hugs, Fran

Project Life Ornaments

Project Life Ornament

One of the December Creative Crew challenges on Splitcoast is to use Project Life in any kind of project.  I used the Hello December Accessory Pack, the wooden embellishments to be exact, and created some ornaments or package tie ons.  The first one used the “joy” embellishment.  I painted it white, sprayed it with adhesive and rolled it in Dazzling Diamonds.  When that was dry I attached a fishing line down the middle of the “O” and added a snowflake from the Frosted Sequins with a rhinestone in the center.  Hang it from some Lost Lagoon ribbon with a jingle bell tied to the ribbon with silver ribbon.

I also made one with “Noel.”  Hope you’ll play along with Creative Crew this month.  Use the keyword CCREW1214SF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM.  Hugs, Fran

Deck the Paws

Hot Diggity Dog 03

The Creative Crew challenges on Splitcoast this month start with using non-traditional colors on a Christmas card.  I used Melon Mambo, Black and Tempting Turquoise – that’s non-traditional!  These pups from Hot Diggity Dog have just spotted the perfect tree!  The sentiment was done in My Digital Studio2.  Play along using the keyword CCREW1214DF, CreativeCrew, SUO
