Time for Your Birthday

Poppy 02

Here’s an idea for a birthday invitation using Karen Burniston’s Spiral Circle Pull Card and the cute Poppy die.  The Pull Card is so neat because it has tabs to hold the front together. First I die cut the card and then I stamped the front with Hardwood (what a great stamp!)  I added a gear to the front of the Clock and Gears die and put Poppy on the front holding some balloons.  The sentiment was done in My Digital Studio and punched with the ticket punch.

Inside I printed the invite information, also done in MDS.  The finished card size is 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Butterflies Soar

Here’s my next card for the “fly” challenge – and it was very hard to photograph!  I used the Quatrefancy DSP acetate to make the base for this Butterfly Pivot card.  It’s beautiful in real life, but was a bear to photograph.  The accent paper is Gingham Garden and the sentiment is from Love & Sympathy.

Here’s another photo that helps you see the acetate – maybe

Supplies
Stamp Set – Love & Sympathy
Cardstock – Quartrefancy acetate, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Gingham Garden DSP
Ink – Pear Pizzezz
Etc – Buttery Pivot die and accessories, Word Window punch

Fly Away

There are lots of things to celebrate at this time of year!  The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Team was challenged this month to use the word “fly” as their inspiration.  I started with the inspirational sentiment from Really Good Greetings – thinking “graduation” – and did this card.

I paper pieced a hot air balloon and added it to the Lucy Label insert.  I love this insert because you can use it for anything!  The “bravo” is from  A Dozen Thoughts.  The Lace tape is retiring – hurry!  Then I added a little line of flags to help celebrate the big event.  Here’s a look at the “mechanics” of the card –

Supplies
Stamp Sets – A Dozen Thoughts, Really Good Greetings
Cardstock – Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Watercolor Wonder DSP
Ink – Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango
Etc – Lucy Label die, 1 3/4″ circle punch, Candy Dots, Doily tape, flag punch

Celebrating is a lot of fun!  Hugs, Fran

Welcome Home

This is Karen Burniston’s new House Pivot die – a house with a garden fence!  Too cute!  I used it to make a Welcome to your new house card.  My card is a bit misleading because I added more garden fence on the front.  The banner is made with the little flag punch and the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper pack.

On the inside I added the tree from the Pop It Ups All Season Tree.  I found a quote about homes that I really like and sized it in My Digital Studio and then printed it – and use the Katie Label Pivot framelits to die cut and mat it.  The quote says –

Every house where love abides
and friendship is a guest,
is surely home and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest.
-Henry Van Dyke-

Isn’t that perfect?

Supplies
Card stock – Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Whisper White, Fresh Print DSP, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz
Etc – House Pivot Pop It Ups, Katie Label, Tree for All Seasons, Flag punch, Candy Dots

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!  Hugs, Fran

Butterflies and Roses

Continue the fun!  I used the Karen Burniston’s Accordion Circle die again to create a Mother’s day card .  This card features the Spiral Rose die – expanded with the blossom punch – and the butterfly from Backyard Basics on the front.  The piece underneath the rose is from Daydream Medallions.  It looks so pretty on the Happy Watercolor paper.  The instructions for the spiral rose can be found here.

This is the card opened – The center sentiment is from Lots of Thanks – a great sentiment for my mom!  I continued with Daydream Medallions and butterflies.  To finish the card I covered the back with more Happy Watercolor DSP and put 2 butterflies so that the wings from the front are covered.

Supplies
Stamp Sets – Backyard Basics, Lots of Thanks, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock – Smokey Slate, Whisper White, Happy Watercolor DSP
Ink – Smokey Slate, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe
Etc – Karen Burniston Circle Accordion die and edges, Backyard Basics framelits, Spiral rose die, Blossom Punch, Daydream Medallion framelit

Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Smokey Slate is a great color combo!  Hugs, Fran

Two by Two

The Pop It Ups Challenge for April is Mamas and Babies!  For the “babies” part, I made a Circle Accordion card using the My Digital Studio image Two by Two.  I used my Sizzix Eclips to print and cut the image on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I colored it. (You could also color it in MDS then cut it out)

Here it is opened.  The sentiment is from Cuddles and Kisses and the paper is a retired Sale a bration DSP.  I added some little pre-made bows to the front and inside.  For the clouds in the sky, I die cut clouds from the Pop it u\Ups Garden bench and used them as masks and then air brushed the circle.  It would have been just as easy to adhere them to the sky but I wanted to try this technique

Supplies
Stamp Sets – Two By Two (MDS), Cuddles and Kisses
Cardstock – So Saffron, Whisper White, retired DSP
Ink – Bashful Blue
Etc – Circle Accordion Pop it Ups with Square with Circle edges, My Digital Studio, bows

I love making these accordion cards – and MDS has so many ways to expand my papercrafting – it’s a win-win!  Hugs, Fran

So What Got You Started

Stamping?  Did you go to a workshop or party?  Try it on your own?  I saw some cute images in a store one day and decided to give it a try.  My first images were a cute hedgehog from Penny Black and some little kiddos from Me & My Big Ideas.  I still have them.  They led me to want to find out more about this art – and here I am.  So since today is my birthday, I decided to pull out some of these very old images and make something new.

An odd color combo on the front – Wisteria Wonder, Real Red and Basic Black.  The sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday was the perfect font and saying for this card.
On the inside I used Karen Burniston’s Lot’s of Pops die and the cute little triangle punch from the Occasions mini.

So now it’s your turn!  What got you started stamping?  Hugs, Fran
