Valentine Treats

These little treats are for my daughter’s friends in her dorm.  They are easy to put together – which is great since I need to make quite a few!  The “cover” is a 1 1/2 x 7 1/2 piece of More Amore Designer Series paper folded in half.  Use a 1 1/4″ square punch to make the cut out at the bottom.  Add a 1 x 3″ strip to the top using the same punch at the bottom.  Note – you can hand cut these if you’d rather!  Use the Sizzlit Heart to cut out a Real Red heart and layer the stamped image over top.  Attach with dimensionals.  Fill a skinny cello bag with M&Ms.  You will need to leave almost an inch empty at the top.  Staple the top to the inside of the cover and use glue dots to hold the cover down on the front and back.  I was able to get 17 of these treat bags from one bag of M&Ms (and I didn’t eat any while filling them – promise!)

The box holding the treats is made from the Fancy Favor die.  I die cut it in Real Red and then using the More Amore DSP.  I trimmed about a 1/2″ off the top and all the bottom flaps of the Designer Series paper and adhered it to the Real Red before I adhered the box together.  I decorated it with the same heart combination from the treat bags.

I won this Pop N Cuts insert – Winged Hearts – on Karen Burniston’s blog I am not left handed!  (Did you hear me screaming?)  It works in the Pop N Cuts Dress Form base and I used it to make this Valentine.  Because of the direction of the Stampin Up base, I cut the ends off of the piece for the insert and reversed the direction so that it would open correctly.   ETA: I am crazy!  It works perfectly as is! Then I made a shaker frame for the heart.  Kind of fun to have it pop out and shake at the same time.  The beautiful More Amore Designer Series paper fit perfectly on the front – like it was made for this card.

Oh Hello

I cased Shelli!  This is my version of a project she did on stage at Leadership.  The coolest part is the flower.  It’s one single flower from the new Flower Trim ribbon (126869).  The nicest part about this ribbon is that you can cut off just one flower or use an entire string on them. 

To color the flower I simply pushed it into a So Saffron pad until it had color on both sides.  Then I spritzed it with some shimmer spray made up of 70% rubbing alcohol and frost white shimmer paint.  This helped the color soak all the way through without making it too wet.  I added it to the card using Tombow Multipurpose glue (the green capped stuff!)

Isn’t it sweet?  I have 2 nieces that are ballerinas and they were the inspiration for this card.  This is the new Pop N Cut die in the Spring Mini – and I love it!  Isn’t the mirror cute?  That’s Brushed Silver card stock with another dress die cut so it looks like a reflection.  Okay – I had too much fun here!
