Stuffed Turkey

Mingle All the Way 04

My second card for Karen Burniston’s Design Team challenge is for Thanksgiving.  I used her Circle Accordion die and lots of punches to create a turkey!  My turkey is punched from Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso and Crushed Curry. The Designer Series paper is SU’s Color Me Autumn.  I went around the circle with the KB Rings Frame Edges 1 and lots of Cajun Craze Candy Dots.  The leaves are punched from the SU Bird punch and finished off with an Early Espresso button and twine.

Bright & Beautiful New Year

Bright&Beautiful 06

Today starts the Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge for December.  We were challenged to pick a holiday and make a card.  I chose New Years and Thanksgiving.  So here is New Years!.  For New Years, I used Karen’s Katie Label Accordion die turned  from portrait to landscape.  The video instructions can be found here.  The wonderful thing about this technique is that I could easily use Stampin Up’s Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper!  I embossed the stars and sentiment from Bright & Beautiful in gold embossing powder and die cut them with the matching Framelits.

For the middle panel, I just omitted  the line about Christmas.  The little stars come from the negative part of Karen’s Star Edges.  It makes a very shiny New Year’s wish!

Poppy Spiral Birthday

Really Good Greetings 04

My oldest daughter had a special birthday yesterday – 30!  This is the card I made her using Karen Burniston’s Spiral Pull Card die, Poppy the Owl character die and lots of star stamps.  The sentiment on the front is from Pictogram Punches and Poppy’s little camera is from Project Life Point and Click.  I added Crystal Effects to the lens.

Pull cards are so much fun to make and receive!  I used the spiral included with the die and added lots of stars!  To make Poppy on both sides, I simply copied an idea from Karen Burniston and made two, glued back to back.  The inside sentiment is from Really Good Greetings – which is a perfect name for this set.

Beach House Washi tape is across the bottom of the card.  We celebrate 4 birthdays in December so I better get busy!  Hugs, Fran

Blue Birthday

Garden Bench 01

Karen Burniston’s Challenge – number 3!  Blue!  I found a lovely poem about snow and growing old and printed it on to Whisper White card stock then die cut it with a die from Karen’s Katie Label Pivot die.  The Designer Series paper is All is Calm from Stampin Up’s Holiday mini.

Garden Bench 01 open

Inside is the Garden Bench, Tree for All Season and Happy Birthday Pop It Ups!  To make the Happy Birthday curve across the snow, I simply ran it through my Xyron and the addition of adhesive made it easy to bend.

Can you see all the sparkly Dazzling Details snow?  I used acrylic paint to paint some of the branches and added “snow” to the bench and tree (and me, of course!)  Hugs, Fran

White as Snow

Beauty of the Season 01

The Designer Challenge for Karen Burniston continues with “white” – white as snow.  I chose to use the Evergreen Pivot die and do a Triple Pivot Card Technique.   The front of this card uses several different embossing folders, Karen’s Agatha Edges die and Stampin UP’s snowflakes found in the Frosted Sequins.

It’s so hard to see white on white in a photo!

I needed a birthday card so I decided to try out one of Karen Burniston’s videos on making a Spiral Pull Card with a character. I chose to put Poppy the Owl on the front and used the very fun Flashback Designer Series Paper with Pictogram Punches for the sentiment.
