Crazy 4 Challenges C4C450 Techniques

I have been invited by Raquel to Guest Design for Crazy 4 Challenges this month!  The first challenge is to make a card using any technique – old or new.  So I decided on stenciling using embossing paste.  The stencil I used was actually cut using a new Stampin Up background die, Blizzard Thinlits die.  I cut it out of a heavy weight card stock and used Nuvo Glimmer paste in Silver Gem.

The silver embossed sentiment is the coordinating set from Stamp Up – Beautiful Blizzard – and is mounted on silver card stock die cut with the Karen Burniston Crosshatch Circle and surrounded with rhinestones.  (p.s. Silver is hard to photograph!)

Inside I used the new Karen Burniston Explosion die to make this fun design!  I popped up snowflakes and used the silver embossed sentiment from the same set as the front of the card.

I also added a Stampin Up border using Delicate Borders die.  The snowflakes are backed on an acetate circle to give them some added strength.  Check all the Crazies and see what techniques they used for this challenge!  Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros August Challenge – Anything Goes!

Anything goes?  OK!  The Paper Pros are playing this month with whatever we want!  I chose the Karen Burniston Katherine Label and Mermaid and Princess dies to create an underwater scene.  I started with a background created with Distress Oxide inks and then stamped the vines from Magical Mermaid along the bottom. I added some color with my Copic markers and the sentiment is on vellum from Magical Mermaids.  The little fish are from the Stampin Up Under the Sea die.  The mermaid tails are from the KB Mermaid and Princess die- colored with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen.

Inside I continued the scene the same way, adding a full mermaid near the sentiment.

Here’s a close up of the sentiment on vellum.  Make sure to check out what the other designers have done this month!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team August Challenge – Charmed

The Karen Burniston Design challenge this month is Charmed – so I used the Circle Charm die along with the Beach Charms to make my card.  The paper is Tropical Chic and the stamp set is Fabulous Flamingo from Stampin Up.  I used the palm tress on the front.

On the inside I added the flamingo charm.  The colors are Blushing Bride, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce.

The body of the flamingo is DSP from the Tropical Chic paper.  The wing is the stencil part of the die colored in with a marker.  These charms make it so easy to create a card!  Make sure to check out the other Charmed Designers 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston + Darkroom Door Blog Hop

Today is the Karen Burniston Design Hop with Darkroom Door.  I chose the Garden Bird stamp, Artsy Mosaic Collage stamp with the matching stencil.  The background is done over patterned paper (retired SU) with the Artsy Mosaic stamp and stencil.  The bird was stamped twice – once on the paper and again on white – colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.  Then it’s paper pieced over the stamped image.  The sentiment is from the KB Word Set 2 – Birthday die.

Inside I used the Karen Burniston Upsy Daisy die to show off more birds from the Darkroom Door Garden Bird set.  Rainbow order just seemed like a fun idea 🙂

The middle panel hangs from the other panels on some Baker’s Twine.

Both Darkroom Door and Karen Burniston will be giving away a prize packs, with winners randomly chosen from ALL of the blog comments received by Sunday, June 29th, 2018.  Lots of chances to win some goodies, so just leave a comment on this post or any other blog hop post to enter!

Monster Birthday

What a Monster Birthday card!  I started with the Gerda Steiner set Monster Fun and colored up the images using my Copic markers.  I fussy cut the images and added the blue monster with his daily mocha and some presents to the front.

Inside I used the Karen Burniston Cupcake Pop Up die and the rest of the cute images to make a birthday card.  The dots on the paper where punched – just needed a bit more interest.  Super fun!   Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros Challenge – What’s in a Name?

This month’s Paper Pro challenge was to pick a die that uses the first letter of your name.  I chose the Fancy Label die and used the Coffee Charms – that’s so me!  I also used the Fancy Label Frames and the retired Stampin Up coffee paper.

The charms that are hanging are the coffee charms – the coffee cups across the bottom are cut from the paper.

I even tied a little sentiment to the stirrer!  Make sure to check out the other Pros – lots of fun designs!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team July Challenge – Sweet Summer

Sweet Summer!  For this month’s design challenge I chose the new Karen Burniston Crosshatch Circle and Circle Charm dies to make a donut card.  The little girl image is a Tiddywinks Digi stamp.

Inside features  donut charm from the Sweet Treats charms dies and the word Sweet from Summer Words.  The icing was hand cut – just die cut a circle and “go wavy” around it!

There’s lots of sparkle and glossy accents to make the icing on the donuts shine.  Sorry the camera angle is a bit off!  Make sure to check out the other designers today and Karen’s post tomorrow.  It will be sweet 🙂  Hugs, Fran

A Day Late

A day late AND using retired products!  This is the Karen Burniston Spinner Square and the Truly Tailored suite from Stampin Up.

This Spinner Square is so easy to adapt to any theme/stamp!  The block is large enough to show off any sentiment or image.  Hugs, Fran

On the Farm

This is my Father’s Day card for my dad.  I used all kinds of stuff to make this card!  The stamps are MFT Animal Farm and the sentiment is Stampin Up’s Stitched All Around.  Those cute clouds are Karen Burniston’s Outdoor Scenes. The card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 Crumb Cake with Old Olive patterned paper.

Inside features the Karen Burniston Tree Pop Up and the House & Fence Pop Up.  I fashioned the house to match our farm house by stenciling the background with a brick stencil very lightly – going for the look of stone.   The grass is also from the Outdoor Scenes die.

I made a few simple boxes to pop up some of the animals and some are attached directly to the back.  I had to trim the tree (!) so the horse could peek through!  And  yes, we raise black angus cattle so the poor dairy cow had to have a make over!

The sentiments are from Stampin Up’s Another Wonderful Year and Truly Tailored (retired.)  This is when I realize I’ve used a birthday sentiment!!  So in the final version I’ve covered up the birthday part with Happy Father’s Day!  Sheesh!  Hugs, Fran

Lots of Cake

I’m using up some retired Stampin Up paper and stamps making cakes! 🙂  This card also uses the Karen Burniston Cake Trim on the front.

Inside is the Karen Burniston Cake Pop Up and some fun animal images fussy cut from paper.

With an elephant on top because – why not?  Too much fun!

Here’s a more elegant cake card, again using up retired paper and products.

The soft colors make such a pretty cake.

The Cake Trim is done in glitter paper.  Just making the most of my stash!  Hugs, Fran
