Brusho Floral Statements

Have you  tried Brushos?  There is a really nice selection of Brushos in the Occasions catalog.  These are powdered crystals that react to water, can be painted like watercolor or sprinkled on wet paper.  They are addicting!  I started with the Floral Statements stamp set on water color paper, stamped in Archival Black, and painted the blue rose with the Brushos.  Then I started doing the background by shaking on the Brushos in Green and Yellow.  The mat behind the stamp is also done the same way.  I used Nuvo Drops in Simple White to add some accents.  Hugs, Fran

Barn Door

Isn’t this cute?  The barn door slides across the card to reveal the greeting!  Our farm has black barns with red trim so that’s where I started.  I used the new Simple Stripes embossing folder on the background to add texture.  After I stamped the barn door, I used colored pencils to add some shadows on the boards.

The wreath is stamped on Old olive card stock and the flowers are die cut separately.

I added a few flowers to brighten things up.  This is a great stamp set and die and, as always, you get an extra 10% off if you purchase the bundle!  Hugs, Fran

Party Pandas

This may well be my favorite Saleabration set – Party Pandas  I used these cute little guys to create two shaker cards.  There are a few differences (besides the colors!) so let’s take a look at them.

I used the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to make the openings on both cards.  This one is a 4 x 5 1/4 white piece with some Tangerine Tango DSP behind it.  The hat, ballon and heart on the envelope were colored with Stampin Blends and the openings were filled with some retired beads and sequins.  After I die cut the openings, I put the die back over the opening and used a Tangerine Tango Stampin Write Marker to make a stitched line around the hearts.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

For this card I switched to Calypso Coral and used the Diagonal Stripe stamp to create a tone on tone background.  The piece is slightly smaller- 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 – because I wanted to add a black mat to the back.  And I ditched the patterned paper on this one and just used white. The Party Pandas will be available on January 4th.  Have a favorite?  Let me know!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team January Challenge – Birthday Banners

Birthday Banners is the Karen Burniston Design Challenge for this month!  I used the Tag Book die and it comes with the banner piece – so that was easy! The flowers are die cut using the Karen Burniston Flowers and Bee die in Real Red, Sweet Sugarplum, Berry Burst and white with some glitter embellishments in the centers.  The bee was cut out of Daffodil Delight and Vellum card stock and paper pieced together.    I cut the Tag Book in Berry Burst and added some Tutti-frutti Designer Series paper that will be in the new Occasions paper along with the stamp, Picture Perfect Birthday and the Glimmer paper.

I repeated the flowers and leaves on the inside of the Tag Book die.The DSP on the inside is from Eastern Palace Specialty paper in Lemon Lime Twist.

A little bit of sparkle trailing along the inside.

And more banners and bees.  Check out how the banner pieces have the little design in the die!  The Celebrate is from Tabs for Everything.  Hugs, Fran

You can see more cards from the entire team here! Karen will publish on Wednesday.

Saleabration Epic Celebration

Saleabration starts January 3rd and this is one of the choices that is free with a $50 purchase.  For this card, I stamped the shoes from Epic Celebration in Momento Tuxedo Black in and colored them in with Stampin Blends.  The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

The guitar card was colored with colored pencils on Crumb Cake card stock.  It didn’t really come out like I had imagined in my head – so I added shimmer pen (because that should make it better, shouldn’t[‘t it?)  I think I will try it again with the Stampin Blends 🙂  Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

Christmas Tags

So I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been up to while visiting my mother!  Since I can’t haul all my crafting supplies with me, I chose to take some cute images and my Copic markers so I could color while on my visits.  Then when I’m home, I make them into Christmas tags using Karen Burniston’s Tag Book die – just the tag part.  This tag uses a digi image from 2CuteInk and the wreath from Stampin Up’s Wondrous Wreath.  I put the little elf face up on a Mini Action Wobbler.  The berries are made with Red Berry Nuvo drops.

His glasses are coated with Glossy Accents – so cute!  Most of these tags were stamped on Xpress Blending Card and backed with Stampin Up’s Heavy white card stock.

These images are from Simon Says Stamp Christmas Squad and the snow bank is made with Karen Burniston’s Nature Edges.  The ornaments are covered with the Berry red Nuvo drops and the star is coated with Glossy Accents.

Here’s a Riley the Moose tag – Carrying Tree – paired up with some Stampin Up Quilted Christmas DSP.

And here’s a Simon Says Stamp tag using Christmas Cats with Copics and more Quilted Christmas paper.

And here I used Prisma color pencils and Gamsol on Crumb Cake card stock.  The ribbons I used are all out of my stash.

The Tag Book die is an absolute favorite of mine!  So many uses!  I’ll share some more when I return to my computer 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge – Trees Please

The December Challenge for the Karen Burniston Design Team is Trees Please.  I started with a 6 x 6 card front featuring Stampin Up’s Year of Cheer Designer paper, a foil snowflake, Snowflake sentiments stamp set and white Glimmer paper.  Everything is edged in Gold Foil paper.  and see the scallop edging on the right side – remember that 🙂   The sentiment is embossed in gold and accented with silver thread and a gold facetted gem.

When you open the card…………….

The Tree Pop Up is snowy white with gold accents.  The gold trim around the base of the tree is from the Snowman Twist Circle die and the straight scallop is from the Tag Book die.  Fun!

The tree pieces were done with a beaded embossing paste and dots mask.  My jar was almost empty and I really had to scrape to finish the project!  But the sparkle was worth it.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you’ll enjoy all the other team member’s projects too!  Hugs, Fran

Happy Winter Tag Book Tag

Oh goodness, I’ve been gone for a long time!  So here you go – a post and an explanation!  This cute card uses Karen Burniston’s new Tag Book die turned so that it’s a vertical tag.  I used Stampin Up’s the beautiful Year of Cheer DSP adhered to the retired brushed gold card stock,  along with a Gold foil snowflake and the Snowflake Sentiment stamp set to decorate the front.  After covering the front of the Tag Book with the DSP, I added a foil snowflake, gold thread, then a white Glimmer paper snowflake, and a silver Faceted Gem.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, then punched out with the Everyday Label punch.  The top is tied off with the Gold Metallic Edge ribbon. Sparkle!

The Tag Book drops open (like a tag!)  I’ve die cut the center of the two little squares and used the trim piece to sandwich the snowflake from the KB Charm set on a piece of clear fishing string and finished the inside off with a snowman from her Snowman Twist Circle die.  To make his little scarf, I die cut the hat band 4 times and pieced it together.  The die cut words are from the Winter Words die. The tag is finished off with a loop of gold floss that is long enough to go through both top circles on the closed tag so you can hang it on your package.

Here’s a close up of the details and also a better idea of the actual color!  All the sparkle was really keeping it from photographing correctly 🙂

If you’re still reading, my mother has been sick and I am taking this time to spend it with her.  I will continue to post here but it will be sporadic.  Thanks for understanding and I hope you’ll continue to check back.  Hugs always, Fran

Snowflake Sentiment Christmas Tree

There’s something about this gold paper that makes everything beautiful!  It’s called Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series paper and each piece has a metallic foil design.  Here I added a gold embossed sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments and a gold snowflake,  It’s a 4 1/2 x 6 card.

Inside is the Christmas Tree Pop Up by Karen Burniston using a gold foil Snowflake doily as a tree skirt.  The tree is decorated with gold ornaments (included with the die!)

Very simple, very shiny!  Hope you enjoy!  Hugs, Fran
