Color Me Christmas Sneak Peek

This is a cute little Christmas set called Color Me Christmas.  It will be available August 1st and has 5 little Christmas images.  I chose the reindeer for this card because he’s so handsome   I used a new Thinlit die called Circle Label which will also be available on the 1st.  It cuts a flip card and a few other pieces to decorate.  Unfortunately I’m having a problem with a few of the pieces so I hope to get that resolved today.

Mr Reindeer’s suit is paperpieced over the watercoloring I did.  His nose is a pearl colored with a Sharpie.  This Designer Series paper is the new Season of Style.  I actually did the chevron with the little Thinlit in the set – but it could also be done with the Chevron Border punch.

Some Washi tape and a few sentiments finish it off – oh! and a jingle bell tied to the top!

Stamp Sets – Color Me Christmas, Merry Little Christmas, Christmas Messages
card stock – Water Color paper, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Season of Style DSP
Ink – Jet Black Stazon, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler
Etc – Thinlit Circle Label die, Christmas Washi tape, pearl, Sharpie, jingle bell, Cherry Cobbler baker’s twine, 2 1/2 circle punch

I can’t wait for the Holiday Mini to go live!  Hugs, Fran

Festive Flurry Label PNC

First off – good news!  The Label Insert is available again!  This is such good news because the Label insert can be used for any and every card you want to create.  Now for a sneak peek of two new sets from the upcoming Holiday Mini – Festive Flurry and Christmas Messages – using the Pop N Cuts Label insert designed by Karen Burniston exclusively for Stampin Up.

The Festive Flurry set has a matching Framelit and I die cut it 4 times – Glimmer paper, Bermuda Bay, embossed silver, and Coastal Cabana.  The snowflake is a new embellishment called Frosted Finishes.

The Designer Series paper is Winter Frost and it’s a specialty paper.  I took my colors straight from the paper.

A smaller snowflake for the inside.

The sentiment is on the matching Deco Label Framelit.  I just love when things coordinate!

That hanging snowflake is on a box made by cutting the fold of the
shelf and making another box.  Then I  cut the snowflake to hang
it.  (I really could have made things easier for myself by just slitting the snowflake – I quite often do things the hard way!)

Stamp Sets – Festive Flurry, Christmas Messages
card stock – Whisper White, Silver Glimmer, Bermuda Bay, Winter Frost DSP
Ink – Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Smokey Slate, Versamark
Etc – SU exclusive PNC base and Label insert, Festive Flurry and Deco Label Framelits, Frosted Finished embellishment, silver embossing powder, Scallop edge punch

This card really sparkles in real life.  Wonder why it’s so hard to photograph glitter?  Hugs, Fran

Goodbye Snow Much Fun

This was one of my “go to” Christmas sets so I’m shedding a few tears to see it go.  I took this one to convention last year for swapping.  The little tree is stamped in Stazon and colored with a Pear Pizzaz marker.  The ornaments are then filled with Crystal Effects.

The “brad” on the tag is a circle punch covered with Crystal Effects.  You can imagine the spread as they dried – and I tried to keep my silly cat off of them!

Supplies
Stamp sets – Snow Much Fun, Tiny Tags
card stock – Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Poppy Parade DSP, Pear Pizzazz DSP
Ink – Jet Black Stazon
Stampin Write Markers – Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Etc – Crystal Effects, Poppy Parade ribbon, Tiny tag punch

The funny thing about this card is that I grabbed a Pear Pizzaz and a Lucky Limeade marker – and didn’t realize it until I was finished coloring.  It worked!  If you’re going to start your Christmas cards early, now’s the time to shop.  The Holiday mini comes out August 1 – so if you’re an early starter, go through the retiring list!   Hugs, Fran

Tiny Tag Tree

I have jars and jars of buttons (!) so when I saw this idea of creating a tree with them, I jumped on it!  (And it didn’t even leave a dent in my button jars)  I started by making a triangle the size that I wanted for the card and then choosing buttons, pearls and beads to fill it in.  Some of the buttons are various clear buttons from SU that I backed with Comfort Cafe Designer Series and Silver Glimmer paper.  I threaded most of them with linen thread – some are just topped with pearls.

Sometimes I think Stampin Up is looking in my window because as soon as I decided to add the Tiny Tags “Merry”, it went on the Retiring List!  (So hurry up and grab it before it’s gone!)  The Snowflakes are cut with my Snow Flurry die – which is steel ruled and cuts through the Glimmer paper beautifully.  I added lots of Dazzling Details – sparkle, sparkle!

Supplies
Stamp Set – Tiny Tags
Card stock – Whisper White, Neutral Pack, Soft Suede, Comfort Cafe Designer Series paper, Silver Glimmer paper
Ink – Soft Suede
Etc – BUTTONS!, Snow Flurry die, linen thread, Dazzling Diamonds, glue, pearls, beads

I think there are lots of designs that could be done with buttons – so grab your jars of buttons (please tell me you have them too) and start creating!  Hugs, Fran

Another Tag

Needed a few more tags to finish up this season’s wrapping.  I had this tag that I cased and it’s pretty and easy enough to make a stack of them quickly.  The Vanilla ornament is embossed with clear embossing powder – and at some point I switched to the Sugar and Spice embossing powder because it smells so good!

Supplies
Stamp Sets – Delightful Decorations
card stock – Kraft, Very Vanilla, Gumball Green
Ink – Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Versamark
Etc – Decoration punch, Bird punch, 3/4″ circle punch, Simply Scored, linen thread, mini brad, clear embossing powder

Hope your Christmas “doings” are coming together!  Hugs, Fran

Santa with Almonds

This little guy will hold Candied Almonds.  He’s made from the retired Bag with Scallop die – but I thought you could use the idea.  Plus he’s hiding some delicious snacks.  So here’s the recipe for the almonds

Candied Almonds

Directions

  1. Combine the
water, sugar, and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to a
boil; add the almonds. Cook and stir the mixture until the liquid
evaporates and leaves a syrup-like coating on the almonds. Pour the
almonds onto a baking sheet lined with waxed paper. Separate almonds
using forks. Allow to cool about 15 minutes.

The trick with these is to keep stirring until the liquid is completely gone.  It happens in a flash – so don’t quit stirring!  Hugs, Fran

Watercolor Winter

A simple card with a glittery pine cone.

Supplies
Stamp Set – Watercolor Winter
card stock – Always Artichoke, Shimmery White
Ink – Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke
Etc – Holiday frame embossing folder, Dazzling Details, Large Oval punch, Taffeta ribbon

And while I had the set out I stamped a belly band for a Kraft box.

Still wrapping – at least I’m finished shopping!  Hugs, Fran

Another Rolled Bag

Are you wrapping yet?  Here’s a gift bag made with a rolled tree (again!)  This bag is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 and is 15 inches tall.  It’s made like a 2,4,6,8 bag but took pieces of DSP to make.  Then I started rolling little 3/4″ pieces of some retired DSP to make the tree.  Add bling – and you have a great bag.  Here’s to wrapping!  Hugs, Fran

Gingerbread Men Tin

I make lots of caramel corn at this time a year so I save tall tins and decorate them.  Then I can package the caramel corn in a large cello bag and that’s that!

Supplies
Stamp Sets – Scentsational Season, Tagged for Christmas
card stock – Whisper White, Gumball Green, Real Red, Polka Dot DSP
Ink – Versamark, Chocolate Chip, Gumball Green
Etc – Holiday Framelits, Tasteful Trim die, 1 1/4 square punch

Now to make my caramel corn!  Hugs, Fran
