Crazy 4 Challenges All White

PIU C4C All White 01

I am the guest player at Crazy 4 Challenges this month and the theme for today is “Don’t Wear White after Labor Day!” So we were challenged to make an all white card 🙂  I started with a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card base (5 1/2 x 11)  and embossed the background layer with Stampin Up’s Gently Falling embossing folder.  The beautiful layered sleigh from Karen Burniston’s Pop It Ups Sleigh Gift Card Holder and some snow flakes from her All Season Tree.

It’s hard to see the sparkle but trust me, it’s there!  I went kind of crazy with the glitter!

All the Crazies have created beautiful white cards so make sure to check them out!  And let me know if you follow the “don’t wear white” rule.  (I do – at least with shoes and purses!)  Have a great day – Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 1

Today is day 1 of the Karen Burniston Challenge for April – The Great Outdoors – and I’m doing something new.  I saw a beautiful card here by Kittie Caracciolo and I’m casing it 🙂  Here is my version

PIU Garden Bench 01 detail

I started by sponging the top of the card with Soft Sky and the bottom with Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  The small flower are from Stampin Up’s Floral Wings and  are in Rose Red.  Then I took an Elegant Eggplant marker and started making the little dotted flowers around it.  To soften things out I used a white gel pen and some Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight markers.  The picket fence is a very, very old Sizzix die (I mean really old!) and the butterflies are an old SU embosslit.   The grass is from Karen Burniston’s Outdoor Edges, cut is Pear Pizzaz and sponged with Old Olive.  The flowers are a mix from an SU punch and the flower in the KB Garden Bench die.  The gate swings open by just creating a score line.  I added a banner and sentiment.

On the inside I repeated the sky, grass and die cut grass and flowers from the front.  The tree is from All Season Tree.  The focal point is the Garden Bench die (fav!!) and the bird from SU’s An Open Heart.  More butterflies, more flowers!

Thanks to Kittie for the awesome inspiration and a chance to try some “new to me” techniques.  Check out what the other designers have done for this challenge on Karen’s Facebook page and blog!  Then stop by tomorrow for some challenge fun!  Hugs, Fran

A Cup of Tea

PIU Hor Oval 01

We are completely snowed in here so a cup of tea sounds wonderful to me!  These are Karen Burniston’s Pop It Ups new Oval Landscape Accordion album mixed with the Gift Card Accordion, Flourishes Frame and Cup Pop Stand dies.

I made it to hold a gift card in the middle.

I repeated the sentiment from the front – Just a Note Clear Stamp – on the inside.  The snowflakes are from the All Seasons Tree.

Stay warm!  Hugs, Fran

Pop It Up Wednesday Sharing Coffee

A Coffee Gift Card holder card!

PIU Coffee 01

This is the front and….

This is the inside.

To make the inside of this card-

  1. Cut a piece of turquoise card stock 4 1/4 x 11″ and fold in the middle.
  2. Cut a piece of turquoise patterned paper 4 x 10 3/8 and fold in the middle.  Align the Sleigh Gift Card holder mechanism in the middle of the score line and run through your die cutting machine.
  3. Cut the cup out of pink card stock and the steam out of vellum.  Layer a 3/8 strip of white onto a 1/2 strip of black card stock.  The length doesn’t matter as long as it is longer than the cup is wide.  Die cut it from the cup where you want the band to be.
  4. Die cut 5 flowers from the All Season Tree in turquoise and adhere to the cup band.  Attach small pearls to the center of the flowers and attach to the cup. Adhere the cup to the Pop Up.
  5. Cut the edges of 2 pieces  4 1/4 x 5 1/2 of white card stock with the Paris Edges die.  This will give you plenty of room to place the white pieces on your card (see photo.)  Trim off the excess. Stamp the small cup from the Coffee & Tea Clear stamp set on the bottom edge of your card.

For the front of the card –

  1. Use the new Paisley stencil over a 4 x 5 1/4″ piece of turquoise patterned paper and let dry.
  2. Cut the Paris edge the same way as you did for the inside and adhere to the front.
  3. Stamp the little cups the same way as you did for the inside.
  4. Cut a 2 x 4 1/2″ piece of white card stock and add a 2 1/2 piece of turquoise patterned paper to the bottom.  Wrap a pink ribbon around the paper. Stamp the images from the Coffee & Tea Clear stamp set as shown.  Punch a hole in the top and add ribbon.  Attach to the front using pop dots.

Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

Winter Blessings

Spiral Pull Card 02

Today starts the January Challenges for the Karen Burniston Design Team!  This month’s challenge was to create a card using 3 or more Pop It Ups dies.  For my first card I used the Spiral Circle Pull Card  – with the Paris Edges and an EDC Snowflake die.

On the inside I used some more snowflakes from All Seasons Tree.  The sentiment is Stamping Up’s Blessed By God and the the little girl on the front is Winter Fairy by Sylvia Zet colored with Copics.  I love challenges like this!  Hugs, Fran

Blue Birthday

Garden Bench 01

Karen Burniston’s Challenge – number 3!  Blue!  I found a lovely poem about snow and growing old and printed it on to Whisper White card stock then die cut it with a die from Karen’s Katie Label Pivot die.  The Designer Series paper is All is Calm from Stampin Up’s Holiday mini.

Inside is the Garden Bench, Tree for All Season and Happy Birthday Pop It Ups!  To make the Happy Birthday curve across the snow, I simply ran it through my Xyron and the addition of adhesive made it easy to bend.

Can you see all the sparkly Dazzling Details snow?  I used acrylic paint to paint some of the branches and added “snow” to the bench and tree (and me, of course!)  Hugs, Fran
