Karen Burniston Design Challenge Day Two

PIU GCH Accordion 01 open

Let’s Celebrate!  I used the Sleigh Gift Card die flat on the front of the soon-to-be-released Gift Card Holder Acordion die.  The beautiful frame fits as one piece on the front.  The sleigh is done in Stampin Up’s Silver Foil and Red Glimmer paper.  It really shines.

The inside holds a gift card!  The tabs to hold the card are built in so there’s no guess work involved.  I love to give gift cards!  Pop over to Karen’s Facebook page to see the rest of the designs for this month.  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston September Challenge Day One

Haunt Ya Later 05

This month’s Karen Burniston’s Design Challenge is Celebrate – with Frame Edges! I chose the Katie Label Accordion Album with the matching Katie Stars Frame Edges – and it’s a shaker card!  This “too cute to be scary” vampire is from the Haunt Ya Later set in the Holiday Mini.  He’s surrounded by Black Glimmer paper stars – the same stars from the frame – sequins, and some long glitter.  (I”m not really sure what to call it!)  The vampire is colored with Copics. I used the retired SU bat punch with more Glimmer paper and a BIG jewel!

The colors are a bit muted in the pictures because of the glare from the window sheet on the shaker.  The purple is Elegant Eggplant.  I love how the space on the Katie Label die accommodates so many things!  Check out Karen’s Facebook Page to see the rest of the team’s designs!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C303 – Grandparent’s Day

PIU Oval Accoridion 05

It’s challenge time with Crazies!  This week the challenge is to create a card to celebrate Grandparents Day. I used Karen Burniston’s Oval Accordion, Saturated Canary’s Hair image and Stampin Up’s Bloom With Hope sentiment and English Garden Designer Series paper.

The image was colored with Copics and the Happy Grandparents Day was computer generated.  Make sure to check out the other cards for this challenge!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C302

I’ve been asked to be the guest designer with the “Crazies” over at Crazy 4 Challenges this month!  The first challenge is to make a card showing how you’re going to celebrate Labor Day.  I will be spending time at our farm having a bonfire – and that means s’mores!  I thought I make a card for my niece who won’t be able to join us.

PIU Brownie 05

I used Karen Burniston’s Brownie the Cow (we raised black angus!) and Agatha Edges on the front with a SU sentiment from Wetlands.  The leaves are from Karen’s All Season Tree.

And here’s the inside – Lots of Pops with a computer generated sentiment.

The logs are from the Pop It Ups Fence Pop Stand and the flames are Cocoa the Horse’s mane and tail and Wiliam the Goat’s goat-tee!

So that’s where I’ll be – sitting with the cows making s’mores!

Check out all the other Crazy’s designs for this challenge and play along!  Hugs, Fran

Pop It Ups Halloween

Is it too early for Halloween?

EDC front

1. Cut a piece of black card stock 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 and fold it in half to create your base.

2. Cut 2 pieces of Happy Haunting DSP Halloween paper (Holiday Mini catalog!) 3 3/8 x 5 1/4 and adhere to the inside.

Step 01

3. Place your Rectangular Pull Card die, matching the alignment tab, and cut out.

Step 02

4. Die cut and assemble Poppy the Owl making him as cute or scary as you’d like. Die cut 2 All Seasons Trees from black card stock.  Cut two 2″ circles from white or vanilla.

5. Trim off most of the branches from the trees (do them at the same time so they match) and adhere one to the front of the card to create a branch.  Add the circle as the moon and place Poppy on the branch.

6. Make 5 “bats” from the bow tie die in Props 2. Die cut the bow ties and use a hand held punch to punch the bottom of the wings.  Karen also has a little tutorial on creating bats from Cocoa the Horse’s hair!

Bats

7. Match up the second branch to the inside left of your card. Adhere a moon to the spinner on the inside and decorate with bats and die cut words using Alphabet 1 or Peel Off stickers!

Cute or scary, it’s fun!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston August Challenge 3

PIU Circle Accordion 01

One more Inspiration Challenge card!  This one is inspired by Frances Byrne (and her amazing scenes!)  I did a mixed Circle/Ring Accordion Album using some Mo Manning digital stamps, Stampin Up sentiment, punches and paper.

I also used some Ring Frame Edges on the middle pieces.  The flag at the top is shown on both sides and makes the card measure 5 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Then I sprinkles stars all around – various punches and dies 🙂  Make sure to hop over to Karen’s Facebook page to check out all the challenge pieces!  They really are inspiring!.

Karen Burniston August Challenge Day 2

PIU Sleigh 01

This card is fashioned after one Caz Counsell made when these dies were first introduced.  I used the Merry & Bright stamp on the front and…

PIU Seligh 01 inside

2 Jollys on the inside!  They are loading Santa’s sleigh – with a gift card behind them.  This Sleigh die is so much fun and I just love Jolly!  On the right “Jolly”, I snipped off his tail (“cut off his tail with a carving knife” – sorry, couldn’t help it!) and tucked it in behind him so it wouldn’t stick out of the card.

I could have made a card for each member of the team and hopefully we’ll do something like this again.  In the meantime, check out everyone’s creations on Karen’s Facebook page!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston August Challenge Day 1

This month’s challenge for the Karen Burniston Design Team may be the hardest challenge we’ve ever done – select another DT member’s card to case!  There are SO many great cards and it was so hard to make a choice!  For today’s card, I chose one from the Red, White or Blue challenge that Shelly Hickox  did in all white!

PIU Ruby Ring Accordion 01

I did it up in color using the same Circle Accordion Album die  – but I used the new Merry Christmas Pop Stand die to create the trees in the middle.

PIU Ruby RIng Accordion 01 open

When you open it up – there’s Ruby waiting to greet you!  The wreath in the middle is Stampin UP’s Wondrous Wreath, stamped twice so it shows on both sides.

The little trees are hanging from fishing line and there is lots of Crystal Effects on the wreath, Rudys’ nose and wreath.

I also added a banner to the last panel so you can write a greeting.  The stamp is Karen’s Merry & Bright!

Celebrating You

Celebrate Today 02

I have more family birthdays coming up and so I got out Celebrate Today and the matching die to make this card.  The Designer Series paper is Schoolhouse and I love the color combo in this paper.  I used Karen Burniston’s Agatha Edges to add an accent.

Celebrate Today 02 open

Inside I used the Pop It Ups new Sleigh Gift Card – without the sleigh!  I simply added a piece of window sheet in the opening so the balloon basket would have a little more support.

Here’s what it looks like from the side.  I love that this die can be used on it’s own!  So versatile!  Hugs, Fran

Owl Love

Katie Label Pivot 02

Owls in Love!  Today on the Elizabeth Crafts Design blog, I have this card with directions.  It’s a Katie Label Pivot using the Paris Edge die on the sides.  This card fits in a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 envelope.

I used Stampin Up’s new English Cottage Designer Series paper and some of the heavy white card stock.  You can find the directions here.  Hugs, Fran
