Karen Burniston Designer Challenge – Team Inspiration

piu-cascading-tag-01

This challenge for Karen Burniston’s Design Team is to take inspiration from another person on the team so I chose Karen Burniston and Karen Aiken – a Karen and Karen card!  I made a Cascading Tag card using Karen B’s video tutorial and taking inspiration from Karen Aiken’s Cascading Tag card using patterned paper. I started with Stampin Up’s Presents & Pinecones Designer Series paper and Karen’s new Holiday Clear Stamp on the front.  The little present is from her Evergreen Pivot Card.

The inside is made with the Adirondack Chair die and the Tag dies – featuring Jolly the Mouse as Santa.  There are some of the new hanging charms dangling from the points. You can click on the picture to make it larger.

Deck the Halls Chilly Gift Card Holder

I’m excited to share with you a cute idea using Karen Burniston’s Gift Card Accordion with Chilly the Penguin.

Here is the card in the closed position:

And here it is opened up:

Instructions:

Use the Gift Card Accordion Die cut to cut the following pieces:
(2) full pages from sturdy red cardstock
(2) pieces from patterned paper, using the paper over the inner rectangle only. Trim to just the rectangles and glue the patterned paper rectangles over the red cardstock pages, taking care to line up the tuck slots on Page 2 perfectly to be able to add a gift card later.
Use the companion Flourish Gift Frame die set to die cut 3 white Flourish Frames. Adhere the frames to the pages, including one for the front of the album when closed.
Assemble the Gift Card Accordion according to the package directions or by watching Karen’s assembly video here: Gift Card Accordion
Die cut Chilly the Penguin using white, black and orange cardstock and assemble him. Make slits between his body and arms. Using gold thread, wrap Chilly as shown.

Die cut the string of Christmas lights from the Holiday House die set four times (1 set each in red, blue, green and yellow) and trim into individual bulbs. For the bulbs that are adhered to Chilly, simply glue them over the thread. For any bulbs that are hanging off of Chilly, sandwich the thread between two bulbs adhered back-to-back

Die cut the largest decorator tree from the Evergreen Pivot Card set and sponge green ink through the die to create the swirl pattern, Adhere the tree to the page with a pop dot and add a glitter star.
Stamp “Santa Says” in green and “Shop!” in red using the Merry & Bright clear stamps. Die cut the circle and add to the page.
Die cut 4 presents and bows using the Evergreen Pivot Card set – one each in yellow, red, green and blue. Assemble the presents and adhere them to Page 2, being careful not to cover the tuck slots that will hold the gift card.

Add your gift card and make someone smile! Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project!

Feeling Jolly Day 2

PIU Jolly 02 front

The mice are still decorating!  Today is day 2 of Karen Burniston’s Design Teams Christmas in July and I’m still playing with Jolly the Mouse.  This card is a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 card in Real Red with the little mice stacked up high to put the star on top of the tree.  The tree is from the Christmas Trees Pop Stand.  I just die cut and embossed 4 of them and stacked them off the side of the paper.  The present is from the Evergreen Pivot card and was cut in Merry Moments Designer Series paper.  The Santa hat is from Props 5 – lots of cute, cute, cute props!

PIU Jolly 02 inside

Inside I used the same stamp set, Christmas Messages, as yesterday.  There are so many great dies in this collection.  To see more amazing creations, go to Karen’s Facebook page!  Hugs, Fran

Birthday Pull Card

Rectangular Pull Card 09

It’s been snowing here – really, really snowing.  17 inches of snow!  So I’ve been coloring 🙂  This is Saturated Canary’s Ellie’s Birthday on a Pop It Ups Rectangular Pull Card using Remembering Your Birthday as the sentiment on Best Year Ever Designer Series paper – colored with Copic markers!  Did I mention we had a big snow?

Rectangular Pull Card 09 open

When you open it up, balloons from Pop It Ups Props 2 and packages from the Evergreen Pivot card decorate the inside.

And the sentiment says it all!  I’ve pulled everything I own out while doing this card! (Did I mention it snowed?) Hugs, Fran

White as Snow

Beauty of the Season 01

The Designer Challenge for Karen Burniston continues with “white” – white as snow.  I chose to use the Evergreen Pivot die and do a Triple Pivot Card Technique.   The front of this card uses several different embossing folders, Karen’s Agatha Edges die and Stampin UP’s snowflakes found in the Frosted Sequins.

It’s so hard to see white on white in a photo!

Ringing in the Season

Ring Accordion 01

I have one more project to sneak in for Karen Burniston’s July Challenge!  This uses the Ring Accordion die and the Evergreen Pivot Card tree.  And to top it off, the card stock is Stampin Up’s Silver Foil and Red Glimmer paper – sparkly!

Ring Accordion 01 open

Here it is all opened up.  I die cut the trees using an adhesive sheet on top of the Whisper White paper – and the embossed images on the trees came through – cool.  The ornament top is part of Ring Accordion die.

Triple Pivot Tree

Tree Pivot 01

Here’s a Christmas card using Karen Burnistion’s  Evergreen Pivot Card die and a very cool idea for making it a Triple Pivot.  I used Stampin Up new Mossy Meadow card stock and the beautiful Shimmery White card stock along with some Red Glimmer paper.  The large tree on the front was cut separately.
