Congrats to the New Vet

PIU Vet card 01

This card is for a sweet young woman who just finished vet school!  So of course I had to corral some Karen Burniston animals to congratulate her 🙂  They are posing in front of the Barn Pop Stand. The card is 4 1/4 x 9 and will easily accommodate a check or gift card.

The idea is that all the animals have come to wish her well.  Check out the bandages on each one.

Looks like everyone is healing nicely!  Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston December Challenge Day 2

PIU Christmas front

Everyone is coming for Christmas!  Today my card features all the farm critters (plus Jolly) in true Home for Christmas style.  This 6 x 6 card is big – but so’s the family 🙂

PIU Christmas left front

Brownie is sporting a Santa-stash and glasses.  Cheeper is holding a candy cane.  And Jolly is bringing a present of cheese.  To attach the characters, the bottom layer (Brownie) is flat on the card.  The next layer is (Cheepers) is attached to Brownie.  And then Jolly is up on pop dots.  This gives it looks of dimension without being crazy.

PIU Christmas right front

William is helping with the garland and Snowball is wearing his Santa hat.  All the presents are popped up. The sentiment is from Project Life by Stampin Up Seasonal Snapshot 2015.

PIU Christmas open

Inside, Cocoa the Horse is already home!  The garland  – which is pieces from the wreath in the Sleigh Gift Card die set – surrounds the Agatha Edge at the top.

The barn is decorated!  The little candle is the chimney from the House die.  The sentiment is Stampin Up’s Cozy Christmas!

Make sure to check out all the other Home for Christmas cards on Facebook – Karen Burniston, Designer.

Haunted Barn

Haunted Barn 01 front

Are you ready to decorate for Halloween?  How about a haunted barn with decked out characters?  This barn is from SVGCuts.com and is called – Haunted Barn!  I used some retired Stampin Up Halloween Designer Series paper and LOTS of black card stock to create this cute 3-D.

Haunted Barn left 01

There are some really cute details – the corn stalks, lanterns and bats, to name a few.

Haunted Barn 01 Cheepers

And a Haunted Barn needs haunted barnyard animals!  I used Karen Burniston’s Pop It Ups characters to create my scene.  First is Cheepers the Chicken appearing as a zombie.

Haunted Barn 01 Brownie

Brownie the cow is a vampire.  His cape was hand cut from washi tape over card stock.

Haunted Barn 01 William

And William the Goat is the devil 🙂  His cape is cut the same way as Brownie’s.

Haunted Barn 01 lit

The barn is lit from within and really looks cute at night.

And to make this entire ensemble even better, all the characters are on sale this week!!  Happy haunted shopping spree 🙂 Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C304 – Sketch

Time for another challenge with Crazy 4 Challenges group!  This time it’s a sketch – one of my favorite type of challenges.  Here’s the sketch.
Microsoft Word - Crazy 4 Challenges September.docx

And here’s my card –

PIU Brownie 04

Good ol’ Brownie the Cow on a Pop It Ups Rectangular Pull Card!  He’s celebrating !  The background stamp is Stampin UP’s Hardwood.  Love the barbed wire – it’s the Pop It Ups Western Edges.

PIU Brownie 04 open

The party’s gotten out of control and Brownie’s having a good time!  His costume is from the Pop It Ups Props 1 and 2.  The stamps are Karen Burniston’s  Farm Greetings and the balloons are from the Spiral Pull Card.  Check out the other cards for this challenge – and play along!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C302

I’ve been asked to be the guest designer with the “Crazies” over at Crazy 4 Challenges this month!  The first challenge is to make a card showing how you’re going to celebrate Labor Day.  I will be spending time at our farm having a bonfire – and that means s’mores!  I thought I make a card for my niece who won’t be able to join us.

PIU Brownie 05

I used Karen Burniston’s Brownie the Cow (we raised black angus!) and Agatha Edges on the front with a SU sentiment from Wetlands.  The leaves are from Karen’s All Season Tree.

PIU Brownie 05 open

And here’s the inside – Lots of Pops with a computer generated sentiment.

PIU Brownie 05 detail

The logs are from the Pop It Ups Fence Pop Stand and the flames are Cocoa the Horse’s mane and tail and Wiliam the Goat’s goat-tee!

So that’s where I’ll be – sitting with the cows making s’mores!

Check out all the other Crazy’s designs for this challenge and play along!  Hugs, Fran

Party ’til the Cows Come Home

PIU Brownie 02

Today is day one for Karen Burniston’s Design Team May Challenge – Barns, Barns, Barns!  And I bring you Brownie the Cow getting ready to party 🙂  The stamp is from Life’s Adventure (a Stampin Up hostess set that’s getting ready to retire!) on some very fun Birthday Bash Designer Series paper.

PIU Brownie 02 detail

The cake was colored with Copic markers and the party hat is from Karen’s Props 2 die set.

PIU Brownie 03

And here’s the herd at the barn- what a celebration!  The barn Pop It Ups stand fits perfectly into the fold – holding up the barn (which is holding up the cows!) The word bubble is computer generated and the sentiment is from Sassy Salutations.  The balloons (from the Spiral Pull Card die) are on fishing line.  You can easily face the cows in any direction by simply flipping the die cuts over.

PIU Brownie 03 open

I added 1 3/4″ to my barn to make it higher by simply gluing an extra piece of yardstick on the bottom of the front and back barn. You can check out all the other cards on Karen’s Facebook page!  Hugs, Fran

Chicken In

PIU Barn 01

Loving this new barn die from Karen Burniston!  We have a farm and our barns are black with red roofs and trim, so I decided to make this one look like ours.  Using Real Red and Basic Black I cut the barn and used it on the front of the card.  When the doors open you can see the Hay There die. The Sunshine is from the So You stamp set in the mini catalog.

And here are all the characters – Brownie the Cow (1022), Virgil the Pig (1024) and Cheepers the Chicken (1024) with a computer generated sentiment on the Pop It Ups Lots of Pops die.

The little banner is punched from the banner punch.  Wouldn’t these guys put a smile on someone’s face?  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge and Friends

PIU Brownie 01

This month’s Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge is to create and invite a friend to create to an accordion album!  My accordion album is the Rectangular Accordion featuring Brownie the Cow!  I used some lovely Park Lane DSP and Brownie is happily eating flowers right off the page 🙂

PIU Brownie 01 open

Inside has Karen’s new Farm Greeting Clear Stamp and another Brownie.  To reverse a character, simply cut them out and flip them over!  Easy, if you’re using card stock (Basic Black and Soft Suede) and only a thinking if you’re using pretty patterned paper!  The flower is the Boho Blossom punch with tiny pearls.

Tomorrow Vickie O’Dell, the Creative Goddess, will wow you with her creation!  I “met” Vickie online and she is one of the most creative and upbeat people I know!  She is all about DIY and gets involved in almost every craft out there!  You can find her at http://vickiodell.com!  I’ll link to her project tomorrow 🙂

Pop It Up From the Herd

PIU From the Herd 02

Karen Burniston has come out with a new line of Pop It Ups – and they fit perfectly with the stamp set From the Herd!  One the dies is the Barn Pop Stand (1021).  I used it on the front of this card!  And the doors slide open and closed!

PIU From the Herd 02 open

Inside is Cheepers the Chicken (1023), Brownie the Cow (1022), and Virgil the Pig (1024)!  And they are all celebrating 🙂

PIU From the Herd 02 detail

The party hat is from Props 2 and the balloons are from the Spiral Pull Card.  What a fun, fun set of dies!
