Paper Pros September Challenge – Seeing Spots

This month’s Paper Pro challenge is Seeing Spots!  I started with 2 card bases that I had sitting on my desk just waiting for something like this!  I had used Distressed Oxide ink to make a panel and then die cut it with MFT’s Peek a Boo Polka Dot background.  One card got the “spots” and the other got the “holes.”  I grabbed these card bases and added the Karen Burniston Katherine Label label to them and added some cut Prickly Pear Coffee Cups colored with Copic markers.

The inside for this card……

I lined the card with some Lemon Lime Twist paper and used the Katherine Label die to create the inside lift.  Then I decided to repeat the design on this card –

So I did this……..

The only change was the color of the arm that lifts the piece.  Do you have a preference?  Make sure to check out all the Paper Pro designs this month!  Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros August Challenge – Anything Goes!

Anything goes?  OK!  The Paper Pros are playing this month with whatever we want!  I chose the Karen Burniston Katherine Label and Mermaid and Princess dies to create an underwater scene.  I started with a background created with Distress Oxide inks and then stamped the vines from Magical Mermaid along the bottom. I added some color with my Copic markers and the sentiment is on vellum from Magical Mermaids.  The little fish are from the Stampin Up Under the Sea die.  The mermaid tails are from the KB Mermaid and Princess die- colored with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen.

Inside I continued the scene the same way, adding a full mermaid near the sentiment.

Here’s a close up of the sentiment on vellum.  Make sure to check out what the other designers have done this month!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Brutus Monroe Blog Hop and Give Away

Welcome to the blog hop!  This A-2 card uses the Brutus Monroe Balloon Animal stamp set and the Karen Burniston, Snowman Twist Circle, Katherine Label and Outdoor Scene dies.  The background uses Distressed Oxide ink to make the sky and the balloons are colored with Copic.

The little piggy’s head is popped up on foam tape and the basket is accented with white gel pen.

Inside the Katherine Label moves the balloon across the page!  Obviously the Katherine Label die is one of my favorites and it is my give away today.  Leave a comment below for a chance to win a Katherine Label die of you own!  Winners will be selected on May 24th. And make sure to follow the hop for chances to win a die from all of the designers.  The next stop on this hop is the very talented and super sweet Kelly Booth!

Karen Burniston – Brutus Monroe – Rose Border

This 5 x 5  card is done with the Brutus Monroe Rose Border heat embossed with gold powder across the front. It’s such an elegant image!

I paired it with the Karen Burniston Katherine Label popping up the sentiment.  The Rose Border continues across the bottom of the card, set off with gold foil.

Look how detailed this image is!

The sentiment is Stampin Up and looks beautiful moving across the card as it’s opened.  The embossed background is Stampin Up.  Make sure to check back tomorrow for a give away!  Hugs, Fran

KB Design Team with Brutus Monroe

This week the Karen Burniston Design Team is teaming up with Brutus Monroe!  For this card I used the cute stamp set called Balloon Animals and the wonderful KB die – Katherine Label!

I stamped and colored the Dog and several hot air balloons for the front.  The puppy’s head has been popped up on foam.  The circles and trim are from the Snowman Twist die from Karen Burniston.

The inside shows the Puppy flying across the sky 🙂  I finished the card off with more hot air balloons and a greeting from the KB Word Set 1.  Stay with us this week because there will be a give away on Thursday! So fun!  Hugs, Fran

In the Clouds

Here’s a funny Valentine using an older AI stamp set – Val Set – and Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label die.  The clouds are die cut from a Stampin Up die set called Rainbow Builder (Occasions Catalog)  There is an acetate window over the opening.

Here he is up in the air!  The little hearts are coated in Shimmer pen and Glossy Accents.  So is his large heart.

Same idea here – an older AI Tina set – and I used an oval opening instead of the Katherine Label.  And the card size is 4 1/2 x 6.

The Katherine Label will work with lots of die openings (or no opening!)  Almost ready for Valentines Day!  Hugs, Fran

Smitten

Here’s a fun 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 Christmas card using the new set in the Holiday mini called Smitten Mitten.  The set has a matching die that makes cute mittens with all sorts of patterns and accessories.  I used the knit trim across the top and a snowflake to decorate.  The sentiment is from Snowflake Sentiments and die cut using Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label die in white and Pool Party. The patterned paper is Stamping Ups Quilted Christmas Cardstock pack.

And inside is Karen Burniston’s Snowman Twist Circle die and her Winter Animals dies.  I used the penguins to make a scene with the Nature’s Edges die – penguins making snowmen with the snowman watching.  What a fun card!

There’s still time to join me on October 7th for my World Card Making Day Christmas Stamp a Stack.  Check here for more information.  Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros Challenge – Halloween

Today is the Paper Pros Challenge and it’s Halloween!  The first thing I thought of when I saw Stampin Up’s Season to Sparkle was The Phantom of the Opera 🙂  So here’s my Phantom card.  The card is a 5 x 7 and has a circle die cut from the front.  The chandelier  is die cut twice – once for the outside (which is mostly trimmed away) and one for the inside.  I covered the chandelier with Glossy Accents and sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds.  The jewel border was die cut, colored with Copics and adhered to the top. The graveyard scene is from Karen Burniston’s Halloween Scene die.  First I stamped the Basic Gray card stock using the Marbled background stamp, then I die cut it.  The sentiment is embossed in white on black card stock.

On the inside I used Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label die so the chandelier swings above the cemetery as it’s opening.  The little spiders dangle as it moves.  The creates are an Art Impressions stamp – Spooktacular – colored with Copies and fussy cut.  Make sure you check out all the other Halloween creations!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy for Challenges Summer Fun

I was asked to be a guest designer for Crazy 4 Challenges this month and the first challenge is Summer Fun.  What is more fun than beach time?  Using Seaside Shore and Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label die, I created an underwater scene.  The background is done with Distressed Oxide inks and the fish are colored with Copic markers.  Nuvo Jewel drops create the bubbles.  The frame around the window opening is stamped with Playful Backgrounds and the acetate is dry embossed with the Seaside embossing folder.

Can you see the waves?  (Kind of hard to photograph!)

Here’s the inside scene.  Be sure to check out the challenge and share your Summer Fun card!  Hugs, Fran

This Little Piggy

This Little Piggy is my current favorite set in the new Annual Catalog!  They are just so cute!  I started this card with Playful Background and the Diagonal Stripes background stamps.  The colors are the new In Color, Powder Pink, and Black.  The die used is Karen Burniston’s new Katherine Label Pop Up (1011). It has some pretty labels that I used to make a frame around the opening.  The label the pig is on is embossed with a cloud embossing folder.

As you open the card the main label twists to the inside.  Here you can kind of see the Crystal Effects on the “bubble” part of the Playful Backgrounds stamp.  I can’t use this stamp without Crystal Effects!  You can also see how I used a black marker to go around the edge of the Diagonal Stripes label to make it pop.

On the inside I used the new cloud stencil and embossing paste and another label die cut.  Doesn’t this little piggy look happy flying in the clouds?  The inside sentiment is stamped in Versamark on a black strip and heat embossed.  It’s attached on a piece of window sheet so it moves with the pig. The mechanism on this die is super simple!

Here you can see how it works – it really makes my pig fly 🙂  I did a whole group of cards using this stamp in these colors that I’ll continue to share!  Hugs, Fran
