Karen Burniston Challenge – Hearts

Belated Happy New Year and welcome to the Karen Burniston challenge for January – hearts! I used the Hearts Pivot die two different ways.

First I used some red striped vellum and the Argyle Border strip die to make this card front. Excuse the vellum which wants to photo with a greenish cast! The trim is the from the Argyle Border cut from red metallic paper- the heart border and the scallop top. I also die cut a circle with the Cross Hatch Circle from Red metallic paper. The hearts are cut with the dies from the Heart Pivot dies from some scrap of paper that was left over from a Spellbinders Glimmer project. Great way to use any scraps or patterned paper!

The sentiment is from the Happy Valentine’s Day die using silver metallic paper. I used fun foam to pop up the words.

The inside repeats the elements from the front. The sentiment is from the Love die. Tip – the vellum is adhered at each short end with the skinny (1/8″ wide) double sided tape. )

For this card I used a stencil from my stash and Nuvo Garnet Red Glimmer paste. For the sentiment I again used the Happy Valentine’s Day die and an Oval Crosshatch. The border is the Argyle Border die.

Inside I used the hearts on the Heart Pivot on the Twist Panel die. Again the hearts are from the Argyle die and the background is made from more stenciled pieces. Sentiments are from the Love die.

Lots of fun! Check out the rest of the team’s creations. Karen’s will be posted on Wednesday ! Hugs, Fran

Cupid’s Bow

SVG Cupid Arrow

Valentine’s Day!  This Cupids bow is from SVGcuts.com and is a decorating piece.  I think I’m going to hanging it in my wreath.  It’s large – about 7 x7  – and very sturdy.  I made a change to the assembly and instead of using a dowel rod for the arrow, I used a cute Valentine’s straw.  Hugs, Fran

You’re Sublime

You're Sublime 04

You’re Sublime is a cute little stamp set that is perfect for coloring.  I made a set  of 3 x 3 cards for Valentine’s Day, colored with Copic markers, and then another that I left blank for a little friend of mine to color with her colored pencils.  The frog is Cucumber Crush.

Daffodil Delight (because it must be a yellow submarine – right?)

Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

This month’s Creative Circle Challenge is You’ve Got Mail – a darling mailbox perfect for Valentine’s Day.  Here’s my first mailbox!

Creative Circle January 2016 03

My card holding mailbox is made from Melon Mambo card stock and the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack.  The lid and flap are done with stencil paste and the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask.

No Bones About It 06

My cards that fit inside the mailbox are made with No Bones About It.  The mailbox easily holds (3) 3 x 3 cards and (3) 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 cards.

No Bones About It 05

These cards were inspired by an “x-ray” card I saw on Splitcoast by Janet Holmes.  I thought the idea was so cute!

No Bones About It 01

The little 3 x 3’s fit through the opening under the flap.

Then I switched gears and made a mailbox without the card dividers inside and a window sheet over the opening to hold candy.

Creative Circle Jan 2016 01

For this one, I used Sweet Lil’ Things Designer Series paper and the sentiment from the Occasions Mini set – Greatest Greetings.  I punched hearts from every punch I could dig up in my craft room!  They are glittered with Dazzling Details.

So now you can choose – cards or treats – or mix it up a bit and do both!
