Wing It!

Today is the August Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge that’s call Wing it! We were asked to incorporate wings into our card – any wing! I started with the Backyard Charms fairy.

This is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card that features the fairies in a rainbow circle. The sentiment is from Word Set 5 – Royalty.

The background is the Swirl Pattern Plate embossed into the paper.

Inside is the Castle and the fairies flying around. The castle sits on the Crosshatch Circles.

Two of the fairies are suspended on slim pieces of acetate. The border are the Party Border Blends.

The sentiment is the Happy Birthday die. Take a look at the other designs from the team and Karen’s will be up on Wednesday. Have a great day! Hugs, Fran

From the Garden

Today I’m sharing a Charm Accordion card featuring the new Backyard Charms from Karen Burniston’s summer release. I started with some heavy white card stock and used a My Favorite Things cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distressed Oxide ink to create a sky of the front and the inside.

The sentiment and the tulips are from Garden Charms and that little bird is from Outdoor Scene. The real star here is the new Backyard Charms! That cute fairy , the mushroom and snail are in that set.

The Charm Accordion open to make a fun scene for this card! I filled the bottom with a garden and did the fairies in black glitter.

This shows you (kind of) how the accordion part opens.

Here’s a close up of the scene. I used the Nature Edges die to create the grass.

The Sentiment is from the Summer Words die. Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston New Summer Release and Give Away!

It’s a wonderful time of the year! Karen Burniston has a 16 die release for the summer! To show off this new collection, we’re having a Blog Hop and Give Away!

I started with a 6 x 6 card using the new Backyard Charms, Landscape Scene and Word Set 12 – Anniversary.

I also used the grass from the older set, Nature Edges. The flap under the one butterfly has a magnet holding the card closed. Notice the “holes” in the leaves? Those will be important in a minute 🙂

It’s a Bitty Ball Very Hungry Caterpillar! He’s made with 5 Bitty balls in various shades of green.

I repeated the garden from the front and added the sun from the Landscape Scene die.

The caterpillar separates at the top so it can flatten and close. Here’s a little video of how it works.

And to celebrate this new release, we are each giving a $25 gift certificate to one random person who leaves a comment! The winners will be announced July 27th so you better get hopping! Hugs, Fran
