Two Folds Challenge

The Karen Burniston Design Team challenge for July is Two Folds! Here’s what I made 🙂

I started with a 5 x 7 Gatefold card and lots of cute trains from the Train Pivot die. The circle is from he crosshatch Circle and the sentiment is from the Train Elements die. This is held closed with magnets.

When you open it, you have the Train Pivots and the Rocket die creating a fun birthday scene!

Here you can see how the Rocket flies above the Train. Those balloons are from the Explosion die.

The circle from the front not only holds the card closed, it also acts as a place to write your message.

Here you can see how the Train Pivot pops up too. It was lots of fun to create!

Make sure to check out the other Design Team members creations for this challenge. Karen’s video will be up on Wednesday! Hugs, Fran

KB Riley – Karen Burniston Dies and Dare 2B Artzy Collaboration Blog Hop and Give Away

Welcome to the KB Riley – Karen Burniston Dies and Dare 2B Artzy Collaboration Blog Hop! Our Design Team members are excited to share their inspiring creations using some of the fabulous products from both these companies. Read to the bottom for information on the give away!

Hi friends! For this Collaboration Blog Hop with Dare 2 Be Artzy, I chose an adorable stamp set and die called April Showers. This image is so cute and fun to color! I started with an open window card.

Inside it opens up to show off the the Karen Burniston Rockin’ Rectangle die!

Isn’t she cute? And the Rockin’ Rectangle was a great way to show the entire image.

For this card, I decided to do the Dare 2 Be Artzy girl in purples and use an acetate front with the Flap Enclosure die from Karen Burniston on the front. The trim at the bottom is the KB Cake Trim die.

Inside, the sun rises on the KB Parcel Pop Up die.

She’s so sweet in purple!

For this card I used the Crosshatch Rectangle, You’re Sweet and Tile Pattern Plate to make the front.

Inside I used the pop up piece from the Explosion die to stand up the sweet April Showers girl.

I used the Crosshatch Circle to make the sun.

To celebrate our blog hop we have four great prizes to give away. KB Riley – Karen Burniston Dies

Follow the Rainbow

We all need some rainbow right now! Here’s a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 card using the Karen Burniston Tile Pattern Plate to create a rainbow front for my fun peacock!

The first 4 colors were cut twice and pieced together so they would stretch across the entire card. Each piece was then die cut with the Crosshatch Circle.

The Peacock is from Feathered Animals and the sentiment is a sentiment strip from Simon Says Stamp. I added a few pearls so the peacock didn’t get lost in all the color.

Inside is the Paper Frames die – cut from the different colors and pieced together to echo the rainbow theme.

The peacocks actually stand out better on the white. Those cute hearts are from the Paper Frames die set 🙂

It was easy to piece this together, but I rescored things with a stylus before I started to fold it.

Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for ice cream! It’s warming up outside – finally – and an Ice Cream Sundae inspired birthday card was needed. This card uses the the Karen Burniston Ice Cream Sundae die and Happy Birthday. I also incorporated the Crosshatch Circle.

There is SO much movement with this die! On the inside top I used the Border Blends Party die to create the scallop and the You’re Sweet sentiment die.

Just a fun pic of my ice cream bowl :). Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

Doctor Koala Bear

This is one of the new stamps over at Prickley Pear – Dr. Koala Bear! He’s cute and very needed at this moment in time. I played around with the image and created a few cards. The images were colored with Comic Markers.

I needed to add to my stash of get well cards, so I did them in different styles for male or female – or either.

This one might be my favorite. The sunny yellows make me feel like everyone is going to get well soon! Hugs, Fran

Pattern Plates – KB Design Team Challenge

The Karen Burniston Challenge this month is to use the Pattern Plates. I started with the Tile Plate and used the Crosshatch Rectangle dies to create a cut out center and to make a frame. The background piece was done with Distressed Oxide inks and sprinkled with water.

The flowers are from the Flowers and Bee die and the sentiment is die cut 3 times and stacked from the Word Set 8 – Congrats.

The inside used the Ups Daisy die to lift the sentiment into the air.

You can see the mechanism here.

It makes a cute card. Make sure to check out the rest of team’s Pattern Plates designs. And, as always, Karen’s card will be out on Wednesday! Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

Birthday on the Farm

Prickley Pear has some new stamps – and a new look! I used the Farm Truck and Animals to create this slim line card. I stamped the images and colored them with Copic Markers. The square were die cut, popped up, and the images were placed on top.

This photo shows how the trucks were placed on top of the frame. Those balloons are from the the Knock Knock Girl (and there’s a boy!) stamp set. The strings were drawn by hand.

It just worked out that the sentiment fit perfectly across the lines created in the frame!

I used a craft knife to cut a line of the back of the truck so the farm items could slid into the truck.

Enjoy! Hugs, Fran

Treasure – May Theme for Karen Burniston Design Team

This is a new, fun die! The Treasure Chest die and charms! I paired it with the Princess and Mermaid die, and that cute, little crab from Sea Animals. You can see the cute embossing on the treasure chest – that’s part of the die! The sentiment is from the new Word Set – 11 Treasure. This set has several words that can be mixed together for lots of different sentiments or scrapbooking.

I actually had a story in my head as I created this. Notice that the lock is closed and the mermaid is holding the key. Ok – hold that thought! 🙂

On the inside I used the Parcel Pop Up with (another) chest. This raises the lid as you open it and shows on the treasure inside! Now you can see that the sweet crab has the key and has opened the box!

Do you like the mermaid outfits? I used the Border Blends – Party to make them! Using lots of scraps, I die cut the scallop over and over and added rows to piece of copy paper that was coated with adhesive. Then I die cut the bodies.

Enjoy the challenge this month and make sure check out all the designers cards! Karen’s video will be posted on Wednesday. Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston April Challenge – Trees!

Hi friends! I hope everyone is being Healthy at Home and not going too stir crazy. Today’s challenge is to use a tree in out card design.

I started with the KB Nature Edges, Outdoor Scenes and Palm tree dies to create this scene. I add the circles from the Snowman Twist Circle die and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s Miss You Missy set to create the sentiment. The coconuts have Glossy Accents on them to make them shine.

On the inside, I used the Snowman Twist Circle die and repeated the design from the outside. I added the Ocean Animals and Sea Animals and decorated them with some of the Props.

These guys are ready for a picnic! That basket is the purse from the Animal Props set.

Mama crab has a towel made from 2 of the Halloween ghost die in the Halloween Charms set.

The shark was colored in Copics and decorated with some cool sunglasses from the Animal Props.

Thanks for taking a look! Make sure to check out the other designers challenge cards! Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Blog Hop and Give Away!

There are new products being released from Karen Burniston and to celebrate the design team is having a Hop with a Give Away! This card starts with the new Flowers Pattern Plate and the Flowers and Bee die.

I die cut the Flowers Plate twice, one in white and once in yellow, and pieced it together, adding small circles to the centers of some of the images. That little bee is from Honey Bee Stamps.

Inside is the amazing new Paper Frames die!

This die has fun paper frames folding in and out – creating a fascinating look!

It also has a cute little banner that can float around the frame.

Fun! it can fit inside almost any card adding something special to your greeting!
