Today is challenge day for Karen Burniston Design Team. We are showcasing her NEW slimline dies in an Autumn theme. I used the Long Rectangles Crosshatch die, Holiday House die, Long Nature Edges and the little tree from the Oval Frames die.
Going with a rainbow theme, I used the same colors on the trees and wreathes. The wreaths have Nuvo drops on them.
Inside I used the Home Sweet Home die. I also created a similar card with a winter theme!
Think of all the seasons! :).
And here’s another take on the same design. This one uses just one house and the Winter Charms die.
I added the word “season” from the Holiday Word Set 3.
Hope this gives you some ideas for Slimlines! Make sure to check out the other designers ideas! Karen’s video will be posted on Wednesday. Hugs, Fran
Slimline cards are so much fun! There’s a lot of room to decorate :). I started with the new slimline dies from Karen Burniston (Long Rectangle Crosshatch) and decorated the front with the new Holiday Charms.
The sentiment is from Word Set 3 Holiday Greetings. The words are ornaments are built up with additional card stock.
Inside is the Katherine Label popping up with a branch and ornament. So fun to watch it move! Hugs, Fran
There’s a new release at Karen Burniston and it includes some really cute dies! New Pattern Plates, cute charms, and great additions to your Pop Up Animals collections. And there is a chance to win a gift certificate!
Today I’m sharing the new Mini Pops dies! These cuties fit inside slimlines or any small project. I’m using them to create Christmas tags. 🙂
I started with a 3 x 4 inch base and used the gift package from Karen’s Gift Pivot Panel die set and the circle from the Circle Charm dies.
Inside I decorated them with one of the Mini Pops dies and the Safari Animals!
Here’s the Hippo. The other dies used in this tag are the gift from Gnomes and Santa die, the hat from Christmas Animals, the NEW Holiday Charms snowflake, and the tree from the Evergreen Pivot die.
Elephant and Giraffe!
I added ties to them by doing two hole in the fold and threading some string through them. Can’t wait to add them to a package!

Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp/Riley and Company stamp set for the Stamptember celebration! This set is so cute with the main image containing these special friends!
I stamped the image and sentiment with Momento Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. The balloons are from the Karen Burniston Explosion die. Happy Birthday is also from Karen Burniston.
The slimline dies are from the Mama Elephant Slimline Basic set.
I so made a 5 x 5 card using the same image and different sentiment from the stamp set.
I popped the image up on an action wobbler !
On the inside, I finished the sentiment! (My feelings, exactly!). Enjoy this special release from Riley and Company for Simon Says Stamp Stamptember! Hugs, Fran
This month the Design Challenge is to make an animal card using the Surprise Ball and the Bitty Ball! Here’s what I made.
I started with a large base card – this is 5 1/2 x 7. The background is a Lawn Fawn Brick Stencil with dye inks and some Distressed Oxides to make the green around it. I used a Crosshatch Circle with the Celebrate die and the Alphabet dies to create the sentiment. The flowers are from the Backyard Charms.
I used magnets on the inside to hold this card closed, and it closes really flat!
When you open the card, the hippos are kissing!
You can run them to the front and read the message I created on my computer.
The bottom halves are the Surprise Balls and the tops are the Bitty Balls. I also used the Animal Add On 2 to create the hippos.
Hope you enjoy the card! Make sure to check out the other team members designs. Karen’s post will be on Wednesday! Hugs, Fran
Today is the August Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge that’s call Wing it! We were asked to incorporate wings into our card – any wing! I started with the Backyard Charms fairy.
This is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card that features the fairies in a rainbow circle. The sentiment is from Word Set 5 – Royalty.
The background is the Swirl Pattern Plate embossed into the paper.
Inside is the Castle and the fairies flying around. The castle sits on the Crosshatch Circles.
Two of the fairies are suspended on slim pieces of acetate. The border are the Party Border Blends.
The sentiment is the Happy Birthday die. Take a look at the other designs from the team and Karen’s will be up on Wednesday. Have a great day! Hugs, Fran
Someone special has a birthday today and we decided to wish her well with a blog hop! It’s Karen Burniston’s birthday! I started with a slimline card – 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 – using the My Favorite Things stamp set called Best Fins.
Inside I used the Katherine Label die! It fits nicely in a slimline card. The sand is cut with the Natures Edges die and the sentiment block is a Cross Hatch circle. This was a fun card to make and I hope it helps to make Karen’s day special! Follow along on the Hop below! Hugs, Fran
Today I’m sharing a Charm Accordion card featuring the new Backyard Charms from Karen Burniston’s summer release. I started with some heavy white card stock and used a My Favorite Things cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distressed Oxide ink to create a sky of the front and the inside.
The sentiment and the tulips are from Garden Charms and that little bird is from Outdoor Scene. The real star here is the new Backyard Charms! That cute fairy , the mushroom and snail are in that set.
The Charm Accordion open to make a fun scene for this card! I filled the bottom with a garden and did the fairies in black glitter.
This shows you (kind of) how the accordion part opens.
Here’s a close up of the scene. I used the Nature Edges die to create the grass.
The Sentiment is from the Summer Words die. Enjoy! Hugs, Fran
It’s a wonderful time of the year! Karen Burniston has a 16 die release for the summer! To show off this new collection, we’re having a Blog Hop and Give Away!
I started with a 6 x 6 card using the new Backyard Charms, Landscape Scene and Word Set 12 – Anniversary.
I also used the grass from the older set, Nature Edges. The flap under the one butterfly has a magnet holding the card closed. Notice the “holes” in the leaves? Those will be important in a minute 🙂
It’s a Bitty Ball Very Hungry Caterpillar! He’s made with 5 Bitty balls in various shades of green.
I repeated the garden from the front and added the sun from the Landscape Scene die.
The caterpillar separates at the top so it can flatten and close. Here’s a little video of how it works.
And to celebrate this new release, we are each giving a $25 gift certificate to one random person who leaves a comment! The winners will be announced July 27th so you better get hopping! Hugs, Fran
