June Pop It Ups Designer Challenge – Ahoy, Dad

PIU Circle Accordion 03 front

Day 2 of the Pop It Ups Designer Challenge brings me to Father’s Day.  I used Karen Burniston’s Circle Accordion Album  and Stampin Up’s Swirly Bird to make a fun Father’s Day card for any sea loving dad!

I also used Stampin Up”s Guy Greetings for the middle of my card.  I love how the Ring Album die lets you chose the length of your card!  Hope you enjoy this nautical look.  Make sure to check out Karen’s blog to see the other summer cards!  Hugs, Fran

June Pop It Ups Designer Challenge – Summer

PIU Butterfly Pivot 03

Today starts the June Karen Burniston Pop It Ups Challenge – Summer!  What does summer mean to you?  My first card is the Butterfly Pivot card with a twist – it’s a shaker!  I stenciled the front with the new Stage It Stencil  – Blossoms Layering.  This is a 2 step stencil that let me do the petals in Calypso Coral and the centers in So Saffron.  And, of course, I had to add some Dazzling Details to the centers!.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up’s Watercolor Wishes.

Because there are layering pieces in the Butterfly Pivot die, it was easy to cut a frame for my shaker.  I used a sponge to add the ink in an ombre style.

On the inside I repeated the stenciling and added a banner that matches the front of the card.  This is my idea of summer!  Make sure to check out the other summer ideas on Karen’s Blog.  Hugs, Fran

Seaside Shore Spinner

Seaside Shore 01

Yesterday I showed you a spinner made with the stamp set Shooting Star.  Today I thought I’d play with another set that works with the Sliding Star Framelit – Seaside Shore.

Seaside Shore 01 front

I stamped the anchor (embossed in silver), sentiment and fish, colored them and cut them out.  The seaweed was stamped directly on the By the Shore Designer Series paper and colored with Copic markers.  The fish spins on 2 pennies sandwiching a Dimensional.

I also added some of those little accent pieces you can buy that go in vases.  (I have 3 jars of them!   What was I thinking!)  Enjoy the sweet fishy.  Hugs, Fran

Shooting Star

Shooting Star 01

You may have guessed by now that I love cards that pop, move, shake, pull or – in this case – spin!  This new stamp set and matching die help you easily make a spinner card. The set is called Shooting Star and the die is the Sliding Star Framelit.  It can be done in a complete circle or a half circle.

There are 2 pennies on either side of a Dimensional that make the spinner work.  It’s really fun to watch it spin.  This card is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2.  Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

News Flash

Pun Intended 04

Here is a fun card that has a great surprise!  The stamp set is Pun Intended and the DSP is retired Schoolyard.  I stamped the camera several time so I could pop the lens area out.

But the best part is that the flash lights up!  I used a little lightening kit – called Chibi – that has LED stickers and copper tape and a book to show you how to make the stickers light up!  I actually surprised myself when it worked the first time 🙂

The star at the bottom is where the battery hides.  It won’t light up until it’s pressed.  Too much fun!  Hugs, Fran

Swirly Boat

Swirly Bird 08

Ahoy, stampin friends!  Swirly has a cute, little boat image and the matching die makes waves!  I chose Dapper Denim, Real Red and Daffodil Delight for this scene.  The bottom of the red mat and Whisper White piece were also cut with the wavy die.  Just line it up below the piece you want to cut and it makes a nice curve.  I embossed the sentiment in white.  Hugs, Fran

This is a make and take from On Stage using Love & Affection.  It’s a cute card that uses a lot of new product – including the darling embossing folder.  It really shows it off.

Split Love

Love & Affection 03

This card uses Love & Affection and the new copper embossing powder!  The “split” is being shown all over the place and it’s really easy to do.  My card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored in half to create a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 front.  I want my designer paper to end up being 4 x 5 1/4 – so I cut it at 4 x 4 1/4 and made a diagonal cut through it and spread it apart 1 inch.  That gives me the space to stamp and emboss in the open space.  This card was shown at On Stage.  Hugs, Fran

My jar is full of hearts!  This new set is called Jar of Love and it has a matching die – making it easy to create shaker cards.  For this one, I started with a notecard.  Die cut the image from some Designer Series paper and cover the opening with window sheet.  Stamp your sentiment in Stazon and let it dry.  (If you don’t get it exactly right the first time, you can wipe it off using rubbing alcohol)  Use the new adhesive strips to go around the area on the back and fill with hearts in Pool Party, Real Red and Silver Glimmer paper.  Adhere to the notecard and shake!  Hugs, Fran
