At the Retreat

I went on a crafting retreat last where Karen Burniston taught a lot of projects using her dies! It was at a beautiful retreat setting in Texas called Whitworth Ranch. Just lovely! So I thought I’d share the projects we did!

One of the projects was this cute Circle Tag Book featuring some Feathered Friends! Those are Party Border Blends decorating the sides.

Look at how cute it is opened! That Ostrich is my favorite!

We also did an Oval Frames card. Do you love the goat paper?

Inside is the cute Bunny from Spring Animals. I love how the elements can be placed on this card.

We also did a chipboard album!

The front piece is a waterfall album made with the Frame Pull die. Karen has a video on her channel on how to do this.

This is the second page with the sweet tag and bird fussy cut from the paper.

The third set of pages – it also holds a surprise!

A Twist Panel is enclosed under one of the pages! Is it pretty? Check back tomorrow and I’ll share the rest of the projects. Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge – Tiny Accessories

This month’s challenge for the Karen Burniston Design Team is to use the Tiny Accessories die. I started with a card stamped using Amazing Life from Stampin Up and the Gina K Wreath Builder template to create a circle of shamrocks.

Inside I created a scene using the Karen Burniston House Pivot die and lots of my favorite characters all dressed up!

I mixed and matched the Tiny Accessories die with the Props to come up with some of these outfits. The fox from Woodland Animals is a pirate and the Owl from Feathered Friends is wearing his glasses. The squirrel from Woodland Animals is a Duke in his top hat 🙂

The Ostrich from Feathered Friends is all dolled up for a day out and is standing next to the Cat Queen. The dog is the Sheriff!

And the raccoon is another pirate friend! I hope you check out all the other Tiny Accessories card and make sure to watch for Karen’s card tomorrow. Hugs, Fran

Ice Cream Sundae

Since we did sherbet yesterday, we need to do Ice Cream today! I started with the Amazing Life stamp set from the Occasions catalog.

And inside we have the Karen Burniston Ice Cream Sundae die doing a full blown banana split!

The banana is part of a circle die! I added lots of chocolate syrup, a cone and a cherry on the top. For this sundae I used 5 scoops of ice cream. The banana and the first 2 scoops are adhered to the bowl.

This side view gives you a little better look at how it’s put together. Yum! Hugs, Fran

Sherbert or Sherbet

So how do you pronounce Sherbet? I have always said sher-bert, with an “r”! I think that’s incorrect 🙂 But it did give some inspiration for this Karen Burniston Ice Cream Sundae die. Some good comes out of anything! I used her Happy Birthday word die for the front, with ink blending to create the sherbet look.

On the inside we have a pretty, pastel bowl of ice cream – or sherbet. To make the bowl I used vellum. The ice cream is colored with Distressed Oxide inks and covered with glitter.

It sparkles! The little cookies are just strips of Crumb Cake card stock with hand drawn lines. Now I’m hungry! Hugs, Fran

Pop Up Cakes

I’ve been pulling out paper from my stash and making cakes – pop up cakes! I started with a 5 x 5 card base and some pretty, retired paper to make this one.

The Karen Burniston Cake die is a wonderful inside for this! There’s nothing like a pop up! I used a doily for the circle around the bottom of the cake. The sequins really add a sparkly touch to this one.

Here’s another! More paper from my stash 🙂

Isn’t it amazing how paper changes the look? Again I used the Karen Burniston Cake die.

Here’s a better look at the cake! Isn’t the trim from the Cake Trim die cute? Hope these inspire you to pull out some paper and get crafting! Hugs, Fran

Valentine Mailboxes

I made a bunch of these for my children and their special friends. These mailboxes use the SVGcuts Love Letters file. I added some Nuvo drops around the top and heart and some brads to the front. They are so sturdy and big!

This is a big bag of chocolate and it fits inside with room to spare! Very fun to make – and give! Hugs, Fran

Valentine Hearts

Happy Valentine’s Day! This card is a 5 x 5 and the front is done with every little heart stamp I could dig out of my stash and the Gina K Wreath builder template. I used the so so pretty All My Love DSP.

The inside features the beautiful Karen Burniston Heart Pivot die with a pattern on pattern design.

Here’s a close up to show you the details. These hearts are so pretty! Hugs, Fran

More Cake

This is a little 4 x 4 enclosure card for a birthday gift. The background is done with the Buffalo Check background stamp set in Pumpkin Pie and the lines are drawn with a Night of Navy Stampin Blend. The cake is also colored with the Blends and Wink of Stella is liberally slathered all over the cake 🙂 I added some little details with a white gel pen to finish off the look. It’s all matted up with a scallop circle! Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros February Challenge – Birthday Boy

This month’s Paper Pro’s challenge is masculine birthday cards! I pulled out Karen Burniston’s Coffee die to make some cards that can hold a gift card inside. The outside is decorated with Karen’s Crosshatch Rectangle die, the Happy Birthday die and Honey Bee’s Coffee Break stamp and die that were colored with Copic markers.

One of my favorite things about the Coffee die is that you can slip a gift card in the side of the coffee cup to make it a gift too! Hugs, Fran

Piece of Cake

It’s so much fun to celebrate birthdays and the Piece of Cake stamp set in the Occasions catalog makes that easy! I stamped a line of cakes across a long card and colored them in with Stampin Blends. The little sentiment is popped up on the side, but the highlight is the cakes! Hugs, Fran
