Karen Burniston September Challenge Day One

Haunt Ya Later 05

This month’s Karen Burniston’s Design Challenge is Celebrate – with Frame Edges! I chose the Katie Label Accordion Album with the matching Katie Stars Frame Edges – and it’s a shaker card!  This “too cute to be scary” vampire is from the Haunt Ya Later set in the Holiday Mini.  He’s surrounded by Black Glimmer paper stars – the same stars from the frame – sequins, and some long glitter.  (I”m not really sure what to call it!)  The vampire is colored with Copics. I used the retired SU bat punch with more Glimmer paper and a BIG jewel!

The colors are a bit muted in the pictures because of the glare from the window sheet on the shaker.  The purple is Elegant Eggplant.  I love how the space on the Katie Label die accommodates so many things!  Check out Karen’s Facebook Page to see the rest of the team’s designs!  Hugs, Fran

Haunt Ya Later

Haunt Ya Later 01

A spooky treat!  This candy bar pull up is certainly looking more “cute” than “spook!”  The Mummy is the easiest design to make – strips of card stock, sponge the edges, start layering!   I stamped the sentiment from Haunt Ya Later and added to the front, added some 1″ eyes and little gogglie things – and it’s ready to scare and share 🙂

The Rubber Stamping and Scrapping Garage sale is this Friday and Saturday!  If you’re in Lexington, Ky you need to come check it out!

Hugs, Fran

Halloween Gift Bag

Witche's Night 01

And last but not least, my Halloween version of this bag!  I used the Witch’s Night stamp set and Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper.  The image and matting were cut with the Lots of Labels Framelit die.  This one is my favorite 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Halloween Baker’s Box

Baker's Box 01

A little Halloween Baker’s Box to fill with treats!  The Baker’s Box is so easy to put together!  The spider is an svg file from Miss Katie’s Cuttables with some extra circles added to the eyes – and some fun google eyes!  On the bottom, I used the scallop border punch and added more eyes.  The ribbon on the top is tied to one of the handles and the clothespin keeps the box shut.  That way you can open it without having to untie the ribbon.  Just something fun 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Pop It Ups Halloween

Is it too early for Halloween?

EDC front

1. Cut a piece of black card stock 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 and fold it in half to create your base.

2. Cut 2 pieces of Happy Haunting DSP Halloween paper (Holiday Mini catalog!) 3 3/8 x 5 1/4 and adhere to the inside.

Step 01

3. Place your Rectangular Pull Card die, matching the alignment tab, and cut out.

Step 02

4. Die cut and assemble Poppy the Owl making him as cute or scary as you’d like. Die cut 2 All Seasons Trees from black card stock.  Cut two 2″ circles from white or vanilla.

5. Trim off most of the branches from the trees (do them at the same time so they match) and adhere one to the front of the card to create a branch.  Add the circle as the moon and place Poppy on the branch.

6. Make 5 “bats” from the bow tie die in Props 2. Die cut the bow ties and use a hand held punch to punch the bottom of the wings.  Karen also has a little tutorial on creating bats from Cocoa the Horse’s hair!

Bats

7. Match up the second branch to the inside left of your card. Adhere a moon to the spinner on the inside and decorate with bats and die cut words using Alphabet 1 or Peel Off stickers!

Cute or scary, it’s fun!  Hugs, Fran

Quick Halloween Treat

TeeHeeHee 03

Need a quick trick for Halloween festivities this week?  How about a cute witch broom?  I used a 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 piece of Crushed Curry and cut the long edge with my fringed scissors.  Wrap it around a 1 x 8 cello bag filled with treats and tie it up with Baked Brown Sugar twine.  To keep the cello bag closed, stamp an image from Tee Hee Hee, punch it out and attach it over the closure of the bag.

Spooky, Spooky

Fall Fest 06

This little ghost is strolling through the pumpkin patch to wish you a Happy Halloween.  The background is done with the double time technique using Mingle All The Way from the Holiday mini in White Craft ink.  The ghost from Fall Fest is embossed with White embossing powder on Basic Black card stock and die cut using the matching dies.  The pumpkins are stamped in Tangerine Tango on Whisper White card stock and die cut, along with a few leaves.  More fun than spooky, but your trick or treaters will enjoy the fun look!

Ink – White craft, Tangerine Tango, Memento Tux Black, Old Olive

Motley Crew Challenge

Ghoulish Greetings 01

Happy October!  One of the Creative Crew challenges at Splitcoast this month is a Halloween/Fall Focus.  I did a Fry box created with the Motley Crew Designer Series paper and Ghoulish Greetings.  The Fry Box die is one of the easiest dies out there – die cut, adhere on the sides and decorate.  I embellished the sentiment with googlie eyes on the sides and decorated the polka dot cello bag with googlie eyes too.

Ghoulish Greetings 01 details

Not much of a Halloween fan or need a Fall treat?  I flipped the DSP so that the just the leaves on the trees were showing and made a Fall Fry box.

Gratitude for Days 01

The sentiment is from Gratitude For Days and the embellishment on the top is 3 Autumn Wooden Embellishments colored with ink pads and glued together.
