Paper Pros February Challenge – Love

This month’s Paper Pro challenge is Love.  I used the new Karen Burniston Spinner Square Pop Up die to make a Valentine card.  The front uses the Painted Love DSP and Gold foil papers along with Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango card stocks.  The little heart is Powder Pink, painted with a shimmer pen and cover with Glossy Accents.  The row of gold hearts are die cut with Karen Burniston’s Cake Trim die.  It’s all finished off with a Powder Pink ribbon.

The dies on the Spinner Square can cut an opening on the front.  As you open the card, the message pops out!

Since I turned mine vertically, the message pops out from the bottom.  The sentiment is from Sure do Love You.    Hugs, Fran

In the Clouds

Here’s a funny Valentine using an older AI stamp set – Val Set – and Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label die.  The clouds are die cut from a Stampin Up die set called Rainbow Builder (Occasions Catalog)  There is an acetate window over the opening.

Here he is up in the air!  The little hearts are coated in Shimmer pen and Glossy Accents.  So is his large heart.

Same idea here – an older AI Tina set – and I used an oval opening instead of the Katherine Label.  And the card size is 4 1/2 x 6.

The Katherine Label will work with lots of die openings (or no opening!)  Almost ready for Valentines Day!  Hugs, Fran

By the Sea

These little sets are from StampingBella, the Littles Palm Tree set and Sandcastle set, and they were perfect paired with Karen Burniston’s Castle die.  For the front I used the Karen Burniston Tropical Scene die to create the sand and water.  Then I colored the little sunbathers and accessories with Copic Markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  I covered the shells, sun, and the sunglasses with Glossy Accents and added some washi tape to the bottom. The sentiment is Stampin Up’s Eastern Beauty.

But the fun is inside-

Using the Karen Burniston Castle Pop Up die, I made a sandcastle.  The beach babies and other beach accessories decorate the inside and the Tropical scene die continues to the inside.

The castle is so cute and very easy to assemble.  And a drawbridge!  Hope you enjoy the sun and sand!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge for February – Castles

This month’s Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge is Castles featuring Karen’s new Castle Pop Up die.  I made some boxes and tags with the Castle die, Princess and Mermaid die, Knight and Dragon die and the Word set die 5 – Royalty.  This tag uses the Castle die in Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo.  The sky was done with Distress Oxide inks and the grass is Pear Pizzaz.  The little princess wears a Pool Party dress embellished with some Dazzling Diamonds. (Sounds like we’re at the Oscars!)  The tag itself is from the Karen Burniston Tag Book. I just used the Castle die flat – no score lines – across the tag.

Every Princess needs a box for their gift!  Here I used the Castle die flat across a box.  I finished it off with some birds from the Karen Burniston Outdoor Scene die.  It took me 3 1/2 castle strips to do this box.  (A retired SU box – any box would work.)  I tied it off with some pink ribbon from my stash.

Now for your little Knight –

This was done the same way as the Princess tag using Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  I added some Glossy Accents to his shield.

For his box I added the cute, cute dragon in Daffodil Delight!

So there’s the Castle die used flat!  Check out all the other designers and see what they’ve done with the Castle!  Hugs, Fran

More Coffee, Please

This 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card features Karen Burniston’s new Coffee Charms and Coffee Pop Up dies paired with Stampin Up’s Coffee Break Designer Series paper.  The tiny coffee cup is from the Coffee Charms set and the little dot in the center is Pool Party, brushed with shimmer pen and covered with Glossy Accents. The scalloped trim is from Karen’s Cake Trim and die cut from Garden Green

Not only is there a cake inside, there’s a slot to hold a gift card too!  One of my favorite die 🙂

Super easy to put together!  Hugs, Fran

Cake for You

It’s a great day for cake!  I created this 5 x 5 card using Stamping Up’s Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series paper, gold foil and Karen Burniston’s new Happy Birthday die and Cake Trims die (the little hearts and the gold trim.)  The words were cut from some white card stock and sponged with Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Powder Pink inks.

As always with Karen’s dies, the magic happens inside the card!  This Cake Pop up is so easy to put together (big plus) and makes such a great card.  I used the same papers on the inside and the little hearts in the paper matched up perfectly with the die.

It’s very flat when it collapses which makes it easy to mail.  Hugs, Fran

Coffee’s Coming (and much more!)

There are new Karen Burniston dies just around the corner!  This sneak peek is the new Coffee Cup Pop Up die.  It will be available February 1 and you can see the entire collection here. I used Stampin Up’s Lots of  Love stamp set and the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP for this card.

Isn’t this fun!  The coffee cup pops up and holds a gift card!  My card is a 5 x 5 but this die will fit in a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card too.  The sky is the limit!

There are so many cute extras in this set.  I know you will love it – and use it!  Enjoy the new collection.  Hugs, Fran.

Paper Pros Challenge – Tags!

The Paper Pros challenge this month is Tags!  I made this card using the Karen Burniston Tag Book die and Stampin Bella’s Skating Quartet and Winter Backdrop.  I colored all the little pieces with my Copic markers and die cut them out.  The background was stamped onto the tag and colored with Copics.  I used Simple White Nuvo Drops to create the falling snow and the snow on the trees.  The skating rink is covered with Glossy Accents.

For the inside I drew the small skating rinks and added more critters and packages.  Each rink is covered with Glossy Accents,  On the side background panels and the little background pieces, I added more snow.

It’s all finished off with ribbon and Baker’s twine.  I LOVE the Tag Book die!  Hugs, Fran

Barn Door

Isn’t this cute?  The barn door slides across the card to reveal the greeting!  Our farm has black barns with red trim so that’s where I started.  I used the new Simple Stripes embossing folder on the background to add texture.  After I stamped the barn door, I used colored pencils to add some shadows on the boards.

The wreath is stamped on Old olive card stock and the flowers are die cut separately.

I added a few flowers to brighten things up.  This is a great stamp set and die and, as always, you get an extra 10% off if you purchase the bundle!  Hugs, Fran

Party Pandas

This may well be my favorite Saleabration set – Party Pandas  I used these cute little guys to create two shaker cards.  There are a few differences (besides the colors!) so let’s take a look at them.

I used the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to make the openings on both cards.  This one is a 4 x 5 1/4 white piece with some Tangerine Tango DSP behind it.  The hat, ballon and heart on the envelope were colored with Stampin Blends and the openings were filled with some retired beads and sequins.  After I die cut the openings, I put the die back over the opening and used a Tangerine Tango Stampin Write Marker to make a stitched line around the hearts.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

For this card I switched to Calypso Coral and used the Diagonal Stripe stamp to create a tone on tone background.  The piece is slightly smaller- 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 – because I wanted to add a black mat to the back.  And I ditched the patterned paper on this one and just used white. The Party Pandas will be available on January 4th.  Have a favorite?  Let me know!  Hugs, Fran
