Crazy 4 Challenges – Fall C4C454

This week challenge over at the Crazy 4 Challenges site is Fall.  I started with the new Karen Burniston Frame Pull die and Autumn Elements and the Stampin Up Basket Weave embossing folder.  I die cut the leaves and fall elements from a scrap piece of paper that I had used to play with some alcohol inks!  The dots were added with an assortment of Nuvo Dots.

I used the Autumn words set to make the greeting and continued with some more die cut fall elements.

Then I finished up with the last element I could squeeze out of that piece of practice paper!  Happy Fall!  Thanks for having me as the guest designer at Crazy 4 Challenges this month!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges Birthday Cards C4C453

This week’s Crazy 4 Challenges challenge is to make a birthday card and put numbers on it.  I started with a Concord and Ninth Turnabout stamp set – Mosaic – and stamped it in bright colors.  The numbers are die cut from the Karen Burniston Numbers die and the Happy Birthday is from Karen Burniston’s Birthday Greetings.   The card is 5 x 5.

I used the Karen Burniston Spinner Square die to make the card and decorated the inside with a Stampin Up balloon punch.  The “again” is put together using letters from Karen Burniston’s word set – Happy, Birthday and Congrats.  Enjoy all the cards by the Crazies this week!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges Sketch Challenge C4C452

This month’s challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges is a sketch challenge.  Here’s the sketch –

Here’s my take on the sketch –

This is a 5 x 7 card using the new Karen Burniston Tree Pivot die on her Crosshatch Circle.  The strip behind it is embossed using the new Stampin Up Swirls & Curls embossing Folder.

Inside is the Karen Burniston Tree Pivot die!  Such a great pop up!  Make sure to check out all the other Crazies designs!  Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros September Challenge – Seeing Spots

This month’s Paper Pro challenge is Seeing Spots!  I started with 2 card bases that I had sitting on my desk just waiting for something like this!  I had used Distressed Oxide ink to make a panel and then die cut it with MFT’s Peek a Boo Polka Dot background.  One card got the “spots” and the other got the “holes.”  I grabbed these card bases and added the Karen Burniston Katherine Label label to them and added some cut Prickly Pear Coffee Cups colored with Copic markers.

The inside for this card……

I lined the card with some Lemon Lime Twist paper and used the Katherine Label die to create the inside lift.  Then I decided to repeat the design on this card –

So I did this……..

The only change was the color of the arm that lifts the piece.  Do you have a preference?  Make sure to check out all the Paper Pro designs this month!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges Grandparents Day

This weeks challenge with the Crazy 4 Challenges group is to celebrate Grandparents Day tomorrow.  Who knew?  I made a birthday card for my dad using the Karen Burniston Tag Book and Hello Bluebird’s stamp set, Farmyard Little Bits.  I also used the Karen Burniston Outdoor Scenes (trees) and Tropical Scenes (sun) dies.  The sentiment is a retired Stamp Up set.

First you need to know that we have a farm raising Black Angus cattle, so all the little dairy cows have been colored to be black angus!  I’ve attached cows to the main part of the Tag Book die and all along the supports.  There are even a cow and sun attached to the backing.  Happy Grandparents (birthday) Grandfather!  Check out all the designs by the Crazies!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team September Challenge

This month’s challenge for the Karen Burniston Design Team is Houses.  I started with the new Signs of Santa set from Stampin Up and some of the matching stickers to create on scene on a KB Crosshatch Circle.  He is stamped and colored with Copic markers. The paper used is the coordinating paper for the Signs of Santa – Santa’s Workshop Specialty paper.  (The stripe is flocked!)

This card is 5 x 7.  Not sure if you can tell but Santa is up on an action wobbler.  You gotta dance when reading such a great list!

Inside is the new Karen Burniston House Pivot die!The houses are decorated with some fun paper from the Santa’s Workshop pack and a variety of stamped and colored plus fussy cut from the paper images of Santa’s busy town!  The white snowflakes are the new Stampin Up Blizzard background die layered white on white.

You can see how the pivot houses attach to the top.  Easy to do!!

The little elves go across the bottom and hang from the support of the houses on top.  The rest of the cute sentiment is on the North Pole!  I hope you’ll check out all the other “Houses” this month!  Hugs, Fran

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C450 Techniques

I have been invited by Raquel to Guest Design for Crazy 4 Challenges this month!  The first challenge is to make a card using any technique – old or new.  So I decided on stenciling using embossing paste.  The stencil I used was actually cut using a new Stampin Up background die, Blizzard Thinlits die.  I cut it out of a heavy weight card stock and used Nuvo Glimmer paste in Silver Gem.

The silver embossed sentiment is the coordinating set from Stamp Up – Beautiful Blizzard – and is mounted on silver card stock die cut with the Karen Burniston Crosshatch Circle and surrounded with rhinestones.  (p.s. Silver is hard to photograph!)

Inside I used the new Karen Burniston Explosion die to make this fun design!  I popped up snowflakes and used the silver embossed sentiment from the same set as the front of the card.

I also added a Stampin Up border using Delicate Borders die.  The snowflakes are backed on an acetate circle to give them some added strength.  Check all the Crazies and see what techniques they used for this challenge!  Hugs, Fran

Paper Pros August Challenge – Anything Goes!

Anything goes?  OK!  The Paper Pros are playing this month with whatever we want!  I chose the Karen Burniston Katherine Label and Mermaid and Princess dies to create an underwater scene.  I started with a background created with Distress Oxide inks and then stamped the vines from Magical Mermaid along the bottom. I added some color with my Copic markers and the sentiment is on vellum from Magical Mermaids.  The little fish are from the Stampin Up Under the Sea die.  The mermaid tails are from the KB Mermaid and Princess die- colored with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen.

Inside I continued the scene the same way, adding a full mermaid near the sentiment.

Here’s a close up of the sentiment on vellum.  Make sure to check out what the other designers have done this month!  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston Design Team August Challenge – Charmed

The Karen Burniston Design challenge this month is Charmed – so I used the Circle Charm die along with the Beach Charms to make my card.  The paper is Tropical Chic and the stamp set is Fabulous Flamingo from Stampin Up.  I used the palm tress on the front.

On the inside I added the flamingo charm.  The colors are Blushing Bride, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce.

The body of the flamingo is DSP from the Tropical Chic paper.  The wing is the stencil part of the die colored in with a marker.  These charms make it so easy to create a card!  Make sure to check out the other Charmed Designers 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Karen Burniston + Darkroom Door Blog Hop

Today is the Karen Burniston Design Hop with Darkroom Door.  I chose the Garden Bird stamp, Artsy Mosaic Collage stamp with the matching stencil.  The background is done over patterned paper (retired SU) with the Artsy Mosaic stamp and stencil.  The bird was stamped twice – once on the paper and again on white – colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.  Then it’s paper pieced over the stamped image.  The sentiment is from the KB Word Set 2 – Birthday die.

Inside I used the Karen Burniston Upsy Daisy die to show off more birds from the Darkroom Door Garden Bird set.  Rainbow order just seemed like a fun idea 🙂

The middle panel hangs from the other panels on some Baker’s Twine.

Both Darkroom Door and Karen Burniston will be giving away a prize packs, with winners randomly chosen from ALL of the blog comments received by Sunday, June 29th, 2018.  Lots of chances to win some goodies, so just leave a comment on this post or any other blog hop post to enter!
