Pyramid Boxes

Pyramid Box strawberry side

There is a cute, little pyramid box die in the Occasions Catalog that matches the Playful Pals stamp set.  But the box die can be used for so much more.  Here are few animals I made using both the stamp set and the die. For this post, I made a few other things – first a strawberry.  Done in Real Red and Old Olive with the Basic Black marker for the seeds.

Pyramid Bos strawberry

The leaf part is made with the Flower Patch stamp set and matching die.  I punched a hole through the top sections and tied a ribbon to make a hanger.

Then I coated each “seed” with Crystal Effects to make them shine.

Pyramid Box chicken

This little chick was cased from an ad I saw in a magazine – that was not in English!  At first I thought it was a Stampin Up ad – but I’m not sure, since I couldn’t read it and Google couldn’t translate what was written on a photo.  (I tried)  The red part is a retired Boho Hearts punch (not sure that’s really the name – 3 hearts on a whale punch).  The beak is a small heart.

The wings are another retired punch – but could be done in any shape that’s fairly round.  Hugs, Fran

Sparkly Pink Cake

PIU Cake 02

Pretty Pink!  The sentiment on this card is from Remembering Your Birthday and it’s perfect for this card. I used the retired Hearts Framelits to make a series of hearts – one stenciled with Karen Burniston’s Flower stencil and glitter, one with the sentiment and one small heart.

Open it up – and you have a pink Pop It Up Cake with lots of glitter!

Karen has a great video showing how to make this background.  But be careful – glitter is addicting!  Hugs, Fran

Spring Coffee Lover

PIU Cup Pop Stand 02

I thought I’d make a card for Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  Can you see who’s hiding in my coffee cup?  Take a close look –

PIU Cup Pop Stand 02 front detail

I used Stampin Up’s Botanical Builder Framelits for the flowers, the bird punch for the leaves and the English Garden Designer Series paper.  The cup is from Karen Burniston’s Cup Pop Stand, stenciled with her Medallion stencil and some stencil paste. When you open it up –

Lucky the Rabbit pops outs!  🙂  The sentiment is from Stampin Up’s Helping Me Grow.  And hidden behind Lucky –

Is the Sleigh Gift Card Holder Pop Up by Karen Burniston.  It’s holding a wonder Starbucks card!

To make Lucky’s arm hang over the cup, I simply snipped where it was attached.  Instead of using a large pearl on the inside, I punched a small circle in white and use Crystal Effects over top of it.  This will keep the bulk down.  Enjoy your coffee!  Hugs, Fran

Cutie Pie

Cutie Pie Box cake

I was playing around with the Cutie Pie Thinlits and the Pyramid Thinlits.  They both make triangle shaped boxes.  The Cute Pie die makes pie shaped pieces that can be put together to make a cake.  So I started with cake 🙂

Cutie Pie Box cake bow

It also has a bow that is super cute!  On this one, I one together and then added the “icing” pieces to the completed box.

Cutie Pie Box Cake Candle

There’s also a candle for the top.  Cut two and glue together all but the bottom.  The bottom flares so you have a base to hold it on the cake.

Cutie Pie Box Watermelon

Then I tried a slice of watermelon.  But this time I made 2 boxes and put them together to make one.  I like the way this turned out better.

Cutie Pie Box Watermelon side

I made the seeds with the punch that goes with the Ronald McDonald set.  Then I covered them with Crystal Effects.

Daylight Savings really bothers me – sorry I’m late posting!  Is anyone else affected by the change in time?  I feel like a slug!  Hugs, Fran

Day 2 – Pull Cards

PIU Hanging Charm Pull Card 04

I LOVE coffee!  But more than that, I love drinking coffee with friends.  Here’s a Hanging Charm Pull Card to celebrate friends and coffee! Using the new Karen Burniston Hanging Charm Pull Card die with the little coffee cup die and Stampin Up’s Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper, I did a simple card.

PIU Hanging Charm PUll Card 04 front

When you pull it up, you complete the sentiment. You can use this die to make flat cards (postcards) or decorate the front of a folding card – your choice.  Today I did a folded card.

Karen Burniston March Designer Challenge – Pull Cards

Pull Cards!  The challenge this month is to use any of the Karen Burniston Pull dies to create cards.  Today I’m using the Oval Pull Card.

PIU Oval Pull Card 04

I started with Stampin Up’s Hello Honey card stock base and the Botanical Gardens Designer Series paper.  The cute palm tree is from one of Karen’s earlier collections called Palm Tree & Pail.  The sentiment is from her new Cheeky Monkey Clear Stamp set. It’s easy to layer designer paper on the cards with Karen’s Pull Card Edges – and it’s fun!

PIU Oval Pull Card 04 open

On the inside I added Jinks the Monkey on the pop up piece from the Rectangle Pull Card.  (The oval has a slider and the rectangle has a pop up – you need them both 🙂 )

Rectangular Pull Card 07

Here’s a Rectangle Pull Card.  This is such a great card because it has a nice, big front that can hold a good size image.  If you like to color, this is a perfect place to show off your images.  The girl is a Saturated Canary image.

Inside I added a piece using the Paris Edges.  The sentiment is Stampin Up’s Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Cup Pop Stand

Here’s a card I did for the Elizabeth Craft Design blog. Today  I’ll be using the Cup Pop Stand to create a card.

PIU Cup Pop Stand 01

I started with the Swirly Flourish Stencil and Suzanne Cannon’s A Way With Words Hello. I die cut 3 of the words and glued them together to get some height.  Create a varied look with the stencil by changing the pressure of your sponge or ink applicator as you move from top to bottom.  Then I splattered over that with dark brown ink and sponged the edges.  Gold foil down the side and gold brads go with the gold filament behind the words.

Here’s the inside. Cut a 4 x 10 3/4 piece of paper and die cut the pop stand on the center fold.  I repeated the sponging with the stencil on just the 2 corners.

PIU Cup Pop Stand 01 stencil

The cup has a vellum card stock “swirl of smoke.”

PIU Cup Pop Stand 01 cup

The cup is cut from red polka dot paper twice.  Flip the die for the second cut if your paper is blank or has a different pattern on back. The heart on the cup is from the Hanging Charm Pull Card tied with a little bit of Baker’s Twine.  Cut the saucer from red paper and sponge the design on with red ink. Then die cut the saucer with a circle die.

To hold the Gift Card, I die cut the flourishes from  the Oval Landscape Accordion and glued them down just at the three tips.  It’s so cute – but I ended up using a small glue dot on the card to keep it from slipping during mailing.

Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s Pop It Up Wednesday!

Flying High

PIU Hot Air Baloon 01

This card was made for a new baby (did you guess that?) Lots of hearts to welcome the new baby.

PIU Hot Air Balloon 01 inside

Inside I used Karen Burniston’s Hot Air Balloon Pop It Ups die.  The paper is a retired Stampin Up paper.  So while I was digging through my retire paper, I found this –

PIU Hot Air Balloon 01

and it had to be a Hot Air Balloon card!

I also used Karen’s coordinating stamp set. What’s Up,  on this card for the sentiment and the little hot air balloons in the background.  This die is super easy to use so dig through your paper and get creating 🙂  Hugs, Fran

Inset Butterfly

Butterfly Basics 05

I saw this idea on several sites and had to make one.  The die is cut out and replaced over a sponged background.  It gives the prettiest effect!

Butterfly Basics 05 detail

Think of all the color combinations you could use!  Or you could just leave it white and do this –

Inset Butterfly 01

The center of the butterfly is fishing string coated with glitter.  The bottom of the card is Karen Burniston’s Agatha Edges.

Some pretty ideas to try!  Hugs, Fran

Helping Me Grow

Helping Me Grow 01

Helping Me Grow is found on page 20 of the Occasions Mini.  I cased the  Mini Treat Bag shown there and it it so cute@  Using watercolor paper, I stamped the image in Stazon ink and water colored it using ink and an aqua painter.  The little label is embossed in white and tied on the front using twine.  Hugs, Fran
