So here he is – in all his banana eating glory! I think you either love/hate images like these. There doesn’t seem to be any in between! This card uses the beautiful soon to be released Bella Rose DSP and Riding Hood Red card stock! You’re going to LOVE this paper!
The little bananas were paper pieced – stamped on Summer Sun and then on So Saffron. The monkey himself is textured card stock – Close to Cocoa and Creamy Caramel – highlighted with the WaterColor Crayons. Enjoy! Hugs, Fran
Hi Fran
I’m still on the fence about whether or not I like sock monkey. What I do know is I Love what you created.
At first glance I thought you might have used bleach on the textured CS to get the lighter areas. I don’t have any textured CS to try but I wonder if it would bleach out to a caramel?
Hi Fran! I love your blog and subscribe by email. I really enjoy all your ideas and never take the time to tell you THANK YOU! However, the sock monkey made me comment. I swore it was the ugliest thing I ever saw and I would never buy it. Yet last night I paper pieced a sock monkey with the bella rosa dp! He is adorable! I hate myself! I succumbed to sock monkey love! LOL He IS really cute but you can’t tell just looking at the drawing. He comes to life when you start stamping and coloring and seems to have his own unique personality. It is going to be another set like She’s All That. A love it or hate it set. Unfortunately, I have fallen into the LOVE IT group and will be eating my words everytime I use him – which, I’m afraid – will be often! Thanks for your great ideas and inspiration! You can check out my SCS gallery under #1volunteer and see what my sock monkey gets into!
I have to say – I am NOT a fan of the sock monkey. However, that being said, I LOVE your card more than any others I’ve seen with this little guy! The textured CS really looks great on him. š
Fran … this is the BEST Sock Monkey I have seen! He looks like the Sock Monkey we all grew up with … thanks for sharing this card!!! I have this set, just have not sat down to “play” with it yet … this give me hope that I CAN make something cute out of this set!!! Love it!
Thanks again for your great work and for sharing it on your blog!!!
Blessings,
Kay
He’s adorable, Fran!! I love the texture of him, and all of those banana peels!! Too cute, girl!!
