Gingerbread

I love unique folds and patterns.  But when I find something that has a pattern that needs to be enlarge – my mind just goes blank.  This months issue of Paper Crafts has a gingerbread house that caught my eye – but the pattern needs to be enlarged.  Rather than do that, I just modified the card so there was no pattern involved!

Borrowing an idea from Stampin’ UP!’s regional convention, I cut a piece of Kraft card stock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2.  Mark the center of the short end of the card stock (2 1/8) and mark down the sides at 2 inches.  Cut from the center each side to make the roof.

Now cut a piece of Kraft card stock 2 3/4″ x 8 1/2″ and score in from each side at 2 1/8.”  This will create a wrap around piece that will make the Gingerbread house doors.  Punch a hole using your hand held punch on each flap and thread a ribbon through the holes to tie shut.

The “icing” was made using the slit punch to punch a scallop trim. I lined the inside with some left over Cerise Designer Series Paper and a piece of Very Vanilla.  Stamp sets used are Many Merry Messages, Seeing Spots and Perfect Presentation (the center of the circle uses the small North Pole stamp from Perfect Presentation.  I wanted to get close enough to show you how cute it looks saying “North Pole”, but my camera will not cooperate and focus that close up!)  Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

  4. Fran, if you don’t mind I would like to case the card….way to cute. It would look so cute with the grandkids on Santa’s lap hidden behind the door. The ideas are endless. TFS
