Pretty Matchbox

I love using the Matchbox die!  It makes such a pretty presentation for a small gift.  For this one I die cut it in Pink Pirouette and stamped the butterfly from Creative Elements in Pink Pirouette Classic ink on the top of the band.  Then I used the oval embossing folder and oval punch to make a window.  Window sheets make a great way to make a “peek a boo.”

To make the butterfly, I stamp it three times on Whisper White in Pink Pirourette and cut it out.  Use Tombow Multipurpose to adhere two pieces of fishing string between the layers – glue just at the center – and let it dry.  Add pearls to the center and on the ends of fishing string.  Then I used Stampin Write Markers to make the little tag, punch out with the tag punch and add a little pearl to the flower center.  I used Tombow to glue the butterfly and tag to the box.

The sides are covered with Pink Pirouette DSP.  Some Whisper White taffeta ribbon (and the Crop a dile!) make the pull.

Wouldn’t these make cute shower/wedding favors?  Here’s a few more variations on this idea –

  1. Fran, did you make two bands for this box and glue them together? You have a solid piece of cardstock but the sides are patterned. Did you layer the window sheet between a solid and pattern piece? TIA

  2. Hi Patsy,

I thought I’d answer you here in case anyone else wants this info.  The Matchbox die has two pieces – a box bottom and a belly band.  All the decorating work I did was on the belly band.  The window sheet is adhered on the back side of the band with Tombow and I covered the sides of the band with DSP.  The box base is simply the Pink Pirouette card stock.  Let me know if you need a better explanation!  Hugs, Fran

  3. LOVE these!! Can I use the Party this Way on my technique site?!! I think that is the coolest goodie box!! 🙂
It was great seeing you at Convention!

  4. Fran, these boxes are so beautiful! I love how you used the new embossing frame to accent the window! Genius! Do you have a tutorial for your ribbon flower? I don’t know how to do that and it is very pretty!

  5. Absolutely gorgeous boxes!! I love the embossed panel, and wonderful accents
