Birthday Specials and Featured Stamper Challenge

It’s my birthday “week” and I’d like to celebrate with you!  So I’m offering free shipping on orders over $50 from today until the 11th!  You must email your order email your order  (fran@franticstampers.com) to take advantage of this special (only available to orders in the US)  and I’ll send you an e invoice.

And to top it off – I’ll give a $50 gift certificate to be used in the current Stampin’ UP! Idea Book and catalog to one lucky person who leaves a comment on this blog entry between now and the 11th – tell me about your favorite birthday celebration! The winner will be chosen by random on Easter Sunday!  (That would be a nice treat in your Easter basket!)

Now on to the splitcoast Featured Stamper challenge for today.  As soon as I saw the dress card I thought about the wonderful Easter dresses I use to wear when I was little.  I changed the pattern so I could add puffy sleeves and a fuller skirt.  (We wore lots of tulle, gloves and stockings)  I ran the card front through my Big Shot using the texturz plate so it would look like Swiss Dots and added an underskirt.

The card stock is Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.  Punches used are the 1 3/8th circle punch and both edge punches.  The ribbon is the wide Pink Pirouette grosgrain with a Pink Pirouette button.  Enjoy!  Hugs, Fran

  1. Wow, Fran, this is adorable! Love the puffy sleeves and all the texture. Super cute!! 🙂

  2. Fran – that is the most adorable card. I can think of so many uses for it! Thanks for sharing. My birthday celebrations are always fun. My birthday is at the end of the summer, and ever since I was a child I have been on vacation for my birthday. Now my kids get a kick out of secretly telling a waitress that it is my birthday so they can sing to me!

  3. Fran, Happy Birthday. And all my birthday celebrations are wonderful. Every year the good Lord gives me is a celebration in itself!!!!
Love, love, love the dress card. And like you, it reminds my of my Easter past. My mother always made our dresses and they were the most beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!

  9. Happy Birthday Fran!!
My birthday is May 30. For the early years of my life, this was also Memorial Day. My twin brother and I were the “babies” of the family. My dad worked very long, irregular hours and we didn’t get to spend much time with him. But – he always took the day off on our birthday. Mom would pack a huge picnic and the whole family would spend the day at the lake. Very fond memories.

  10. Love the dress, I remember wearing the same things. Hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Hugs n’ Stuff, Lynne

  11. Happy Birthday to you! My favorite memory has to be the time my husband surprised me with a dinner train ride from downtown Atlanta to Stone Mountain Park and back. It was fun, delicious and he even arranged for the babysitter!

  12. Adorable card!! I miss being able to dress my daughter up like that. 🙂
My favorite birthday memory is my 26th birthday. My husband had pneumonia, stepdaughter had chicken pox (daughter soon followed with them!) and he still went out and got me a cake, balloons and gifts! Although I told him he really shouldn’t have, it did make me feel very special. 🙂

  13. Happy Birthday. The best way that I celebrate my birthday (March 31) is to party for a week. This gives my family (9 brothers and sisters) time to send me greetings and I have fun for a week. So Fran…party for a week!!!

Love the dress card. You are so inventive.

    Hugs,
    Lola

  14. Hey Girl! My birthday is on the 16th, so we have one more thing in common! Love this dress card! Which punch did you use to make the dress? LOVE the puffy sleeves! Happy Birthday!

  15. This card is too cute! I love to celebrate my birthday by hanging out with my friends and playing silly games. As an early birthday present this year, I went to see “Wicked” and it was fabulous! Hope you are having a great birthday week.

  16. Happy Birthday Fran

I’ve had a few milestone parties best were my 40 and 50 (both surprises) but now as I creep to the next one ..which is the 24th (fellow Taurus) the best present is time spent with my 2 granddaughters 5 and 4 (in june) the joy of my life.

hope you have a great day

  21. Fran,
This is gorgeous! I can’t wait to try it! My favorite birthday celebration was my 50th – My husband had a Hawaiian Luau – roasted pig and all! It was fun! Second favorite was when I was 6 – My Mom had a “Tea Party” for my friends – We all dressed up in our Mom’s clothes and jewelry and had a “Tea Party” Both are birthdays I’ll never forget!
Hope your birthday is a very special one!! And one you’ll never forget!!

  22. I just love the dress card and Happy Birthday to you. I stopped counting mine years ago. LOL!!! I look forward to your creative blog posts and share them with my group.

  23. Happy Birthday! My birthday is a few days before Christmas, so it’s always seemed like one long party to me…fun! Since I always had separate celebrations at my parent’s homes…my birthday and Christmas got mixed up a lot and it was always a lot of parties.

    Love your sweet card, too!

  24. WoWzA, this card is beautiful! I saw it when I rec’d my email update, but I had to come here to see it up close … this is stunning! You’ve tied that ribbon into the most perfect bow … evuh!

My favorite birthday was my 29th birthday … so much so, that I continue to celebrate it!

Thanks for the chance and all the inspiration!

  25. Happy Birthday Fran! Favorite was a friends who turned 40. Her husband threw a wake for her lost youth. The church choir processed in and sang a specially written dirge. A black cake was eaten and her Pastor gave a Eulogy! Once everyone stopped laughing a serious celebration of Life in all its passages ensued! Sounds bizarre but then my friend has that kind of sense of humor! It gave me courage to throw my own 40th birthday party 4 months after my husband died of Kidney Cancer. My friends thought I would be too sad to want to have a party and I was feeling a bit that way. Then a dear friend reminded me that Steve would be rejoicing from his spot in Heaven and would be saddened to think I had let the perfect opportunity go by to have the party I wanted (our Cancer joke was that he was checking out just then to avoid throwing the party himself – Cancer humor can get a bit black at times but at the time we thought it was a good line to give well meaning individuals who asked how we could stand going through this). So I called a friend asked if I could borrow her lovely home for the night and proceeded to create the perfect combination of friends, food and fun to celebrate a milestone and begin my new life alone. I learned a valuable lesson that has since paid dividends. Ask for what you need and be prepared to make your own fun. Most friends and acquaintances are just waiting to be asked how they can be of help. Ask yourself what you would be willing to do for a friend (or a stranger) and go from there. Life is a lot more fun that way. As for funniest Birthday I would have to say my third. I saw a shaped teddy bear cake in a magazine and begged my Mom to make that for my party. After awhile my Mom agreed and proceeded to figure out how to accomplish that. What neither of us took into account was the taste buds of a three year old picky eater. The cake was brought in to oohs and ahs from all the party guests was reluctantly cut into and then everyone waited for the birthday girl (me) to take the first bite….a bite I promptly spit out!!!! Turns out 3 year olds aren’t fond of coconut and that was what the magazine recipe called for as a “furry” covering! My poor mortified Mom held off giving me a spanking until the party was over (I not only spit out the cake, I threw a fit!). Strangely enough that’s the birthday I remember the best with the exception of a wonderful 16th birthday ( a whole other story) because of the cake and the Dr. Seuss Happy Birthday Book I received (and still have). My Mom never let me forget it and from then on stuck to a traditional chocolate cake!

May your birthday be filled with fun and surprises (of the good kind :D) and many blessings – Jean

  26. Fran, this is such a cute design for a card. I love your pink branching out card on Wednesday’s blog, too. Happy Birthday!

  27. Happy Birthday to you! I don’t ever remember having a birthday party. I would love to have one though. Maybe in a few years when I turn 50!

  28. Hi Fran!
I would say that my favorite birthday will hopefully be this year! I turn FORTY! OMG and thank goodness i’m 1/2 chinese and I don’t look it at all! People tell me I look late 20s and early 30s… doesn’t get much better than that! woo hoo! hehe

Thanks for the chance and thanks for sharing!

    Bobbie

  29. Happy Birthday Fran! I love your creative ideas! My favorite birthday was when my hubby came home with a rental car that he picked out for me to drive – just something different than our norm. We went out to eat at a special restaurant, and I got to drive the car anywhere I wanted for the night. (Oh, and it was before children, so it was a late night!)

  30. Happy Birthday! One of my favorite memories is when my husband surprised me with a few close friends and took everyone out to dinner! He even had my friend make the birthday cake!

  31. Fran – Your card is soo cute! My favorite birthday memory is my surprise 30th Party that Brady and my mom had for me…it was truly a surprise!
Anyways…Happy Birthday!! Hope you have the bestest day ever!

  32. I usually like my sister’s birthday parties better than mine because she starts planning them as soon as we finish eating dinner on my birthday in July…so she has until October to come up with something really good. She always has a theme drink to go with the occasion. I think the best one was a pear martini. My Dad always rises to the occasion and it was a very well done.

  33. Fran, Happy Birthday to another Aries! Your blog came up in my Google Reader today and now I see what I’ve been missing. Love your style from all I’ve viewed so far. Couldn’t think of a better birthday present for me than to win your $50 gift certificate Easter Sunday which is my birthday. Lots of Stampin Up’ on my wish list. Have had many wonderful celebrations through the years with so many friends and family members it’s difficult to pick a favorite. Thanks and enjoy your birthday!
