Deck the Halls Chilly Gift Card Holder

I’m excited to share with you a cute idea using Karen Burniston’s Gift Card Accordion with Chilly the Penguin.

Here is the card in the closed position:

And here it is opened up:

Instructions:

Use the Gift Card Accordion Die cut to cut the following pieces:
(2) full pages from sturdy red cardstock
(2) pieces from patterned paper, using the paper over the inner rectangle only. Trim to just the rectangles and glue the patterned paper rectangles over the red cardstock pages, taking care to line up the tuck slots on Page 2 perfectly to be able to add a gift card later.
Use the companion Flourish Gift Frame die set to die cut 3 white Flourish Frames. Adhere the frames to the pages, including one for the front of the album when closed.
Assemble the Gift Card Accordion according to the package directions or by watching Karen’s assembly video here: Gift Card Accordion
Die cut Chilly the Penguin using white, black and orange cardstock and assemble him. Make slits between his body and arms. Using gold thread, wrap Chilly as shown.

Die cut the string of Christmas lights from the Holiday House die set four times (1 set each in red, blue, green and yellow) and trim into individual bulbs. For the bulbs that are adhered to Chilly, simply glue them over the thread. For any bulbs that are hanging off of Chilly, sandwich the thread between two bulbs adhered back-to-back

Die cut the largest decorator tree from the Evergreen Pivot Card set and sponge green ink through the die to create the swirl pattern, Adhere the tree to the page with a pop dot and add a glitter star.
Stamp “Santa Says” in green and “Shop!” in red using the Merry & Bright clear stamps. Die cut the circle and add to the page.
Die cut 4 presents and bows using the Evergreen Pivot Card set – one each in yellow, red, green and blue. Assemble the presents and adhere them to Page 2, being careful not to cover the tuck slots that will hold the gift card.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day 2

PIU Halloween 01

Characters in Costumes – Day 2 ūüôā ¬†And which holiday makes us think of costumes more than Halloween? ¬†So starting with a 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 card, stamped with this awesome image from Stampin Up’s Six Sayings (hostess set in the Holiday Mini)

PIU Halloween 01 open

And here are the characters!  Everyone is dressed up in their costume for Halloween and popping up on a Lots of Pops die.   The All Season Tree is in the background.  The wagon is hand cut.

PIU Halloween 01 detail

Cheepers the Chicken is dressed as a cowboy. Chilly the Penguin is wearing an Owl mask.  William the Goat is wearing funny glasses and a bow tie.  And Cocoa the Horse is dressed up as bandit.

Hope there’s lots of chocolate involved! ¬†Take time to check out all the other Characters in Costumes on Karen’s Facebook Page. ¬†Hugs, Fran

Chilly and Hoppy

Chilly 03

Today is Challenge day for the Karen Burniston Design Team! ¬†This month we were challenged to use the characters – Chilly, Hoppy and Poppy! ¬†On this project I used Chilly to decorate a jar for gift giving. ¬†There are 6 Chillies around this blue Bell jar and some sweet snowflakes from Karen’s Garden Bench die. ¬†I added rhinestones so he could have some bling.

Chilly 03 detail

I used Stampin Up’s Oh My Goodies to make the label for the top which matches the ¬†Deco Label Collection Framelits – that were designed by Karen! ¬†Stamped in Real Red and then again in Basic Black, the center is punch with an oval punch and popped up. ¬†I tied the rim with some Real Red cotton ribbon. ¬†Then I filled the jar with peppermints!

Hoppy 03

Next I made a card using Stampin Up’s new In Colors and Flowerpot Designer Series paper. Again I used Oh My Goodies and the Deco Label Collection for the front. The edges of the card are done using two of Karen’s Agatha edges.

Hoppy 03 inside

And inside is Hoppy on Karen’s Lorna Label PopUp. ¬†He’s sitting by his pond with a Stampin’ Up’s Just Sayin die cut with the Chalk Talk dies. ¬†Hoppy comes with his own lily pad and flies! ¬†I attached the flies to some fishing line and mounted them between the lily pads.

Hoppy 03 detail

The flower is from Stampin Up’s Flower Patch (that also has a matching Framelit set.) ¬†Hoppy is done in Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz. ¬†His “pond” is in Lost Lagoon. ¬†Hope you are enjoying meeting the characters! ¬†Check out the rest of the gang by visiting Karen’s Facebook page and seeing what the rest of the team has created! ¬†And come back tomorrow to see what’s going on with Poppy! ¬†Hugs, Fran

Mr and Mrs Chilly

Chilly 02 front

The front of this 5 x 5 card features the new Back to Black Designer Series Paper and the set Something to Say. ¬†The inside has Mr and Mrs Chilly in their bridal splendor sitting on top of Karen Burniston’s new Lorna Label Pop it Ups die. ¬†If you look closely, you’ll see that she is sporting a bridal veil and¬†he is wearing his glitter glasses! ¬†To get the different paper on the Lorna Label, I simply cut the DSP off of the label, flipped it over and used the reverse side! To make the writing surface for the inside, just die cut a large heart to carry out the theme.
